Go for GREAT!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

"Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Since changing our lives means stepping into new behaviors, patterns and ways of being, it means we are going to have to get used to new habits.

Our old habits and our old standards weren't working, so we've decided to change.

The key though to lasting change is to stay consistent with your new habits and behaviors. We may step into these new habits and see results, and then sit back on our laurels thinking we did enough, but that isn't true. We must persist; we must push and follow through on a whole new level.

I am learning through my work with my life coach, Laurie Gerber, at The Handel Group, about keeping commitments to myself. For me to live my dreams I have to keep commitments. Which means I have to do stuff I don't really want to do - everyday. The fruit of this new action is wonderful. But my goal is to stay consistent with these new patterns - this is the magic and the hard part.

So this is where making promises and commitments to ourselves comes in. We make new promises of a higher standard of living that we wouldn't have done before and we promise to stay consistent with this action over time - but remembering to take this one day at a time. We can only live life one day at a time, so it's vital that we not get wrapped up in the confused and sometimes overwhelming future when we consider all of it, all at once.

So are we are taking our lives to a new level and incorporating these newer and sometimes more challenging habits - let us make promises to consistently keep these new habits. Not for a day, not for a week, but from now on. If we mess up a day here or there, let's not beat ourselves up, but rather pick ourselves back up and start again. The idea here is to raise your standards, not for a temporary moment, but for your life. This is not a dress rehearsal, this is real life and we only live it once.

We want to get to the end of our lives used up and worn out, having lived a life well lived. Today, let's go to the next level with our habits and make the promise to keep this new level in our lives. It may hurt a little, but the fruit will be well worth it.

Are you ready to sacrifice the good habits and go for the great? Let's do it today!

Lots of love,

Mastin

Quality, not quantity...

Taken from The Daily OM.com

"It is not the quantity of time that matters, but the quality that you experience during each moment."

We live in an age of quantity. The media shapes us with the notion that larger, faster, and more are often synonymous with better. We are told that we need to find more time, more possessions, and more love to be truly happy. A smaller quantity of anything that is high in quality will almost always be more satisfying. A single piece of our favorite chocolate or a thin spread of freshly made preserves can satisfy us more than a full bucket of a product that we aren’t very fond of. Similarly, one fulfilling experience can eclipse many empty moments strung together. It is not the quantity of time that matters, but the quality that you experience during each moment. Every minute is an opportunity to love yourself and others, develop confidence and self-respect, and exhibit courage.

Ultimately, quality can make life sweeter. When you focus on quality, all your life experiences can be meaningful. A modest portion of good, healthy food can nourish and satisfy you on multiple levels and, when organically grown, nourish the earth as well. Likewise, a few hours of deep, restful slumber will leave you feeling more refreshed than a night’s worth of frequently interrupted sleep. A few minutes spent with a loved one catching up on the important details about family, work, or community can carry more meaning than two hours spent watching television together.

Often, in the pursuit of quantity we cheat ourselves of quality. Then again, quantity also plays a significant role in our lives. Certain elements, such as hugs, kisses, abundance, and love, are best had in copious amounts that are high in quality. But faced with the choice between a single, heartfelt grin and a lifetime of empty smiles, most would, no doubt, choose the former. Ultimately, it is not how much you live or have or do but what you make of each moment that counts.

Alize Mix Squad DJ's Step Out in New York!

Tuesday night (June 21, 2011) Alizé celebrated the first day (and night) of summer with a rooftop bash at Hotel on Rivington to celebrate the debut of the Alizé Mix Squad, a first of its kind all female DJ program. Hosted by Adrienne Bailon, dressed in LaQuan Smith, the evening celebrated the often overlooked and under-appreciated female DJ with music by Nina Sky, DJ Kiss, DJ Rashida, Jessica Who?, DJ Niena Drake, DJ Eque and DJ Dimepiece.

Alizé cocktails Baked by Melissa cupcakes were served and they definitely looked delicious. The drinks were so popular that we didn’t actually have a chance to try them, but guests looked like they were enjoying them. Meeka Claxton (Basketball Wives) was spotted at the Alizé Oasis, a spa retreat by Spa Chicks on the Go, on the second floor of Hotel on Rivington’s penthouse. Reflections of you...

"People you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them as well."

When we look at other people, we see many of their qualities in innumerable and seemingly random combinations. However, the qualities that we see in the people around us are directly related to the traits that exist in us. “Like attracts like” is one of the spiritual laws of the universe. We attract individuals into our lives that mirror who we are. Those you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them. Simply put, when you look at others, you will likely see what exists in you. When you see beauty, divinity, sweetness, or light in the soul of another, you are seeing the goodness that resides in your soul. When you see traits in others that evoke feelings of anger, annoyance, or hatred, you may be seeing reflected back at you those parts of yourself that you have disowned or do not like.

Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in your life can tell you a lot about yourself. Who you are can be laid bare to you through what you see in others. It is easy to see the traits you do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that you possess those same traits. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviors of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.

When you come into contact with someone you admire, search your soul for similarly admirable traits. Likewise, when you meet someone exhibiting traits that you dislike, accept that you are looking at your reflection. Looking at yourself through your perception of others can be a humbling and eye-opening experience. You can also cultivate in you the traits and behaviors that you do like. Be loving and respectful to all people, and you will attract individuals that will love and respect you back. Nurture compassion and empathy and let the goodness you see in others be your mirror.

Alliance Next Generation Artist Profile: Patexx Any Day Now

Patexx got his start in music in 2008, making him one of the youngest up and coming artists in Dancehall.  Called by Bounty Killer to be a part of Alliance Next Generation (ANG), Patexx enjoys the company of the group he's in the company in (Iyara, Marlon Binns, Nymron, Assailant, Ms. Bridgez, Fuze and more), while working hard to perfect his craft.  To date, he has recorded the summer banger, "Summertime" with the Grung Gaad, Bounty Killer, which was officially remixed to include Busta Rhymes who co-signs with Bounty that Patexx is the next to blow!

In addition to working with ANG producers, Patexx has worked with Trevor 'Baby G' James (son of King Jammy's), which resulted in the hit single "Party Everyday" featuring ZJ Liquid.  The single has received heavy support from the top radio jocks and sound system selectors in Jamaica, as well as elite music players outside of Jamaica because of it's infectious vibe which makes listeners want to dance!

As if the above is not enough, Patexx just finished working with ZJ Rush and the Code Red family on the Straight Forward riddim which is exactly that - straight forward.  His song "Mouth A Move" has received the endorsement of musical movers and shakers in England, Germany, Canada and Italy confirming that all eyes are on Patexx.

Below is the bio for Patexx as well as contact information.  Also included are links to preview / download his music.  Patexx is available for profile features, interviews, appearances and performances!

Patexx – Any Day Now:  Alliance Next Generation!

One of the most exciting Dancehall artists to emerge from Jamaica for 2010 and 2011 is Patexx (Any Day Now).  Called to be a part of Alliance Next Generation by the Dancehall General, Bounty Killer, Patexx takes the genre from version 1.0 to version 2.0 with his signature brand and style.

Born Rohan Rankine in St. Thomas, Jamaica, Patexx always incorporated music, whether singing or DJ’ing, as a part of his upbringing.  In school, the artist could be heard singing over beats made from the drumming of his friends on the desks in their classrooms.  His musical influences, even at a young age, included Bounty Killer, Mavado, and Spragga Benz.  Because of his ability to sing as well as DJ, friends and class mates called Patexx ‘Sizzla’ because of his constantly singing Sizzla’s music.

A chance meeting with fellow female artist Passion X (associated with the Ward 21 Music Group), resulted in Patexx getting his name.  Passion X said “it will be impossible for you to make it in the business because the name is taken.  To me you look like a ‘Patexx!’”  From then, the name stuck!  Though Passion has passed on, Patexx gives her honor for blessing him with his distinguished name.

In 2008, Patexx caught the attention of DJ Kenny (arguably one of the hottest mixed tape DJ’s from Jamaica), who was so impressed with the chune “Memories” (which featured the guest vocals of Martina), he took the artist to Coppershot studio’s to record a dub.  The result was Cutty, a Selector for Coppershot building a riddim (the Pepperpot Riddim) for Patexx especially designed for the song “Memories,” and the song receiving strong support and radio play from Jamaica’s elite disc jocks, as well as the best broadcasters in countries such as England, Canada, the U.S. and Germany.

As a talented singer and songwriter, Patexx is behind some of the most played party anthems including “Summertime” produced by Riddim Syndicate which features the guest vocals of Bounty Killer, and the remix featuring Busta Rhymes.  Patexx also wrote “Party Everyday” featuring Zip FM’s ZJ Liquid.  “Party Everyday” was produced by Trevor ‘Baby G’ James, son of the legendary King Jammy’s for his Vybz Entertainment record label.

Taking his musicianship to another level, Patexx has recently recorded the songs “Party” featuring Ravers Clavers front man Ding Dong as well as “Danger” with Dancehall veteran Wayne Marshall.  On the solo tip, Code Red Records released the song “Mouth A Move” on the Straight Forward riddim as well as “Swag It.”

With his signature slogan ‘any day now,’ Patexx endures that Dancehall is in good hands as it looks to the next generation!

Luey V - Drowning!

Before June 28th, we didn't know who Luey V was, but thanks to DJ Drizzle, not only do we know who Luey V is, we're rocking hard to dudes debut single, "Jump Out Thurrrr"!  Going in on this smash single, you gotta love the punchline "we be so deep we drowning!"

We love Luey V so much, we have to run his bio, picture and music!  See below and send your feedback!  This dude is certified and will be featured on the Famous Face on a regular!  Let's Go!

Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. Quality is exactly what this artist consistently produces. Luey V is an upcoming talent out of the Midwest ready to showcase his music to the world. Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Luey V has experienced ups and downs while pursuing his dream, but has been working hard to accomplish his goals and is determined to get where he strives to be.

Born Marvell Rice, Luey V began rapping at the young age of nine. As he grew older and started taking music more seriously, he started working diligently in the studio and at 14, signed with well-known production super duo, The Trak Starz. After five years of working with The Trak Starz, Luey V decided it was time to step out on his own. The experience was a learning lesson, and also served as motivation to go harder. His hard work seemed to start paying off after he met producer, Laudie On Da Track to create his first hit called “Do Ya Own”. The catchy tune caught the attention of many, including SRC/Universal Records exec, Steve Rifkind. At 21, Luey V signed a deal with Universal and the song started taking off, earning him tons of radio play, shows, and even premiered the video on BET’s infamous 106 & Park.

After the success of “Do Ya Own”, Luey V continued on his grind and started his own independent label called Namebrand Music Group, where he plans to sign other talents. Although he hasn’t signed an extension with Universal, that’s not stopping his movement. Luey V’s next hit, “Jump Out Thurr” is another catchy tune that is sure to capture the attention of all who hear it.

Prepping for his fifth mixtape, “Spurr of the Moment” hosted by Bigga Rankin, Luey V is ready to take the music world by storm. He wants to maintain his own identity, while giving the world a taste of his life through his body of work. He is inspired by his environment, and is determined to just be HIMSELF, all while consistently working to solidify his spot in the music industry.

Big Sean - Finally Famous - In Stores Today!

Big Sean's album, Finally Famous drops today!  Team L3 hears that the album includes collaborations with Nas, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Whiz Khalifa and more; not too bad for a debut album!

An unauthorized leak of his collaboration with Drake, called "Made" made its way onto the internet on April 30, 2010. In an interview with TheHipHopUpdate.com on May 1, Big Sean expressed his disappointment over the leak, calling it an unfinished version both musically and verse wise. Big Sean's official Facebook page confirmed that his debut album Finally Famous & Consequence's Cons TV would be released on September 14, 2010. On August 31, Big Sean tweeted that the album was not coming out on that day, but it would be coming out sometime in 2011.

In a recent interview on Conspiracy Worldwide Radio, he discussed the role Kanye West and No I.D. have had in the development of the album's sonic direction as well as the challenges of being inside the studio with West.

The album's lead single My Last, features vocals from Chris Brown and is produced by No I.D.

Chris Walker - Zone

Singer, songwriter and producer Chris Walker has spent the greater part of his life profoundly centered in the music industry, where he has been producing and developing artists. Today, Walker is ready to put his artist hat back on and is set to release a new project on Pendulum Records in association with he and partner Ray Davis’ label, Walker Davis Entertainment.

The debut project, titled “Zone” is due out August 23rd, 2011, and is the first commercial release for Walker in years, but it’s as if he never left. Walker has re-joined forces with renowned music industry executive, Ruben Rodriguez, CEO of Pendulum Records. Pendulum Records is synonymous with success having launched the careers of musical greats such as Grammy Award-Winning Digable Planets, critically acclaimed Boogiemonsters, hip-hop’s legendary Lords Of The Underground, a number one pop single, “Lately” with the urban pop trio Divine and of course, Chris Walker. Together, Walker and Rodriguez are no strangers to success.

In 2008, they signed Grammy Award Winning Artist Regina Belle and released her first Gospel album. The first single quickly achieved the 2nd highest number of radio spins at gospel radio in the past decade, according to R&R. With joint venture in place with Pendulum Records, Walker is laying a concrete foundation for his return and he’s definitely in the zone.

The first single “I Got That Love” is evidence that Walker hasn’t missed a beat by any means. The mid-tempo groove is a refreshing testament to love-making for the grown and sexy. The track, produced by Chris Walker, is a culmination of some of the influences Walker credits with his love of music including Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross. His vocal range treads the scale with a romantic delicacy that marries his lower register and falsetto perfectly, as is showcased in his cover of a classic Luther Vandross song, “If Only For One Night”. With the experience of his craft as his backdrop, his vocal styling’s set him apart from the pack thanks to his distinguished and recognizable style. “Performing is like an out of body experience for me” explains Walker. “And I do whatever it takes to translate that feeling to my audience when I perform.”

The Houston native gained recognition in the early 90’s as a musical director for Regina Belle and Al Jarreau. Walker later signed on as the first artist to Pendulum Records and experienced a new level of achievement, as a solo artist, with the release of “First Time”, which produced two top five singles; “Giving You All My Love” and “Take Time,” which crossed over to become top 30 on the pop charts. Rodriquez says “Chris was the first artist I signed to Pendulum Records. We have had success together, then Chris went on to pursue other career fields in the music industry. Chris is an amazing talent. He has a powerful voice and exceptional musicianship. He is the real thing.”

Walker is currently on a promo tour prepping for his August release of “Zone”, on Pendulum Records in association with Walker Davis Entertainment and distribution through Fontana Distribution.

♠ HOTTT New Dancehall! ♠ Fuze - Cornerstone!

The children are our future and need to be understood and worked with so that they can achieve and manifest their natural gifts.  Not all kids will be in the NFL / NBA / MLB.  Not all kids will play for the English Premier League, nor will all children be doctors or lawyers.  Some children are born to perform and entertain.

Produced by Chalice Palace, Fuze gives us a solid reasoning when he sings:

To all the parents of the world / never underestimate
your children / you never know / what they'll grow
to be / but you'll see...

This is the kind of song that can be played in a Dancehall segment just as easily as it can be
played in a Dancehall segment.  Whether radio or mixtape, this is a 'must add!'  It speaks to what many children go through when parents don't understand or choose not to understand.
This chune speaks for us!
Click on the link for the song!

P.S.  For jingles, dubs and interviews, about Fuze being a part of Alliance Next Generation

Let The Tears Flow!

"Tears are as natural to us as breathing and there is beauty in allowing yourself to be open to the pain of tears."

How wonderful it feels to give in and let tears flow when we are overwhelmed with emotions, whether we are happy or sad. Tears come from the soul, from our well of feelings rising from deep down. When we give in to the prickling behind our eyes and the lump in our throat to let teardrops fall from our eyes, we allow our feelings to surface so they can be set free.

Proud parents shed tears of pride in a child’s accomplishments, a baby’s first step, birthdays, and graduations. Long lost friends fall into each other’s arms, tears rolling down their cheeks when they reunite after years of separation. Tears may flow from us when we are witness to a commitment being made at a wedding or even while we are watching a love story. Tears of relief may spring forth from our eyes when we hear that a loved one has survived an ordeal, and tears may fall when we bow our head in sorrow over a loss or death. Tears born from heartache can flow like they’ll never cease, whether our tears are for a love that is over, a friendship lost, or an opportunity missed. We shed tears because of disappointment in ourselves, tragedy in the world, pain, and illness. Tears of anger can burn with emotion as they fall down our faces. Tears offer us a physical release of our feelings.

Shedding tears can sometimes make us feel better, although it can feel like the tears will never end once the floodgates are open. There is no shame in letting tears flow freely and frequently. Tears are as natural to us as is breathing. There is beauty in allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to shed tears. Open up, release your tears, and let your feelings flow.

Be Yourself - The Right One Will Love You!

"Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude." - William James

Choose people who are open to love.

That's right, I said it. Choose people who are open to love.

Sounds obvious, doesn't it? Well I'll be the first to admit that I have altered, changed, obsessed and thought about how to act around people I like so they won't reject me. Another way of looking at this is: I stopped being ME to please someone else.

This is messed up in two ways:

1. I would abandon myself to make someone else happy (#fail).

2. The person I was pretending to be would be who the other person would like, not the real me (#fail).

So when we do this, and we all do, we let ourselves down and actually lie to the other person, too. So when we are finally our real selves, the other person is shocked to find out the truth.

The answer is simple, but not easy: be radically yourself.

Don't abandon yourself to please another. Open up, be a dork (yes, I am projecting), be a little crazy, be sweet, kind, generous and all those things you wish to have in someone else.

You see, many times we hold back these previous things because we think we will turn off or offend the other person... But the truth is, we should be open and ourselves and celebrate when people reject us. Because they AIN'T open to our love.

We want someone who is open, willing and excited to receive what we have to give. Just like they want someone who is excited, open and willing to receive what they have to give.

The bottom line: don't close down, shut off or tone yourself down because you think the other person will reject you. If they aren't attracted to who you really are, then good, time saved and you can move on. Lingering in a false identity to get the approval of someone else is the ultimate betrayal of your personal integrity. We do it because we love approval from other people. The only problem is that we are building our house on a bed of sand. It will tumble eventually and the truth will be exposed.

So today and every day forward, let's have no fear to be ourselves. Let's make a pact to be radically ourselves and let the chips fall where they may. The right person will stick, but only if you have the courage, clarity and self-love to let go of the wrong one.

Be you out loud today. I dare you.

Love,

Mastin

Your Community Your Everything!

"On the return trip home, gazing through 240,000 miles of space toward the stars and the planet from which I had come, I suddenly experienced the universe as intelligent, loving, harmonious."   - Edgar Mitchell

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Community is everything. If you want to see a preview of your future, look to who you are hanging out with. This isn't some moral statement about your peer group, it's more of a vibrational or elevational statement.

You see, we live in a literal Uni-verse. That means that we become what we think and what we think is greatly determined by who we spend the most amount of time with.

Do you spend time with people who are constantly trashing your dreams? If so, then after time, you begin to believe their doubt and their fear; not because their doubt and fear are true, but because we are creatures of habit and our subconscious mind begins to absorb what we hear, especially the feedback from people we love and spend a lot of time with.

And if you start to believe their doubt, then soon you will begin to take action from that belief in doubt and BAM - the manifestation of the belief of doubt becomes real. Not because it's true, but because the belief of doubt became your dominate thought pattern and that thought pattern influenced your actions and your actions produced the outcome.

The outcome of our lives begins within us. If we water our dreams with doubt, then we think doubtful thoughts; take doubtful action and our lives become a living testament and proof of our belief. Then, what many people do is take this "proof" and use it to further justify their initial belief. But you see, what they're missing this whole time is the fact that their initial thoughts of doubt is what created the outcome of doubt. They unknowingly participate in their own demise.

But, this can be prevented by hanging with the proper community of people. Let us hang with people who uplift us, who encourage us towards our dreams and who challenge our thought patterns. Let us not surround ourselves with people who always agree with us, but rather people who support our growth by challenging our beliefs and helping us break through to new mental and spiritual ground so that our lives may be enriched as a by-product.

Look around. Who are you spending time with? And more importantly, who are you believing? If you have a dream, do you believe people who are living their dreams and thus know the TRUTH about what's possible, or do you take advice from people who aren't living their dreams and thus will tell you it's not possible.

Who you spend time with and who you believe is a major factor that will determine whether you are successful or not. Our aim should be to hang with people who are loving, who believe in us, who challenge us to go to the next level and who inspire us. Life is far too short to hang with people who are always negative and who want you to stay bitter and pissed off like them. It takes a lot of humility to admit when we're wrong and to grow past our limiting beliefs. Let's surround ourselves with people who support our growth, not necessarily the way we want, but most certainly the way we need.

Have a great Monday. Lots of love my friend,

Mastin

It's All In Your Dreams...

"There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of the people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age."   - Sophia Loren

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

When we start contemplating living our dreams, we first bask in the possibility of what could be; we sit back and daydream about a better kind of life, a life of creative freedom, of starting our own business and being able to do what we want when we want. We see how big our ideas can be and then we come back to reality.

As we actually start to consider taking actions TOWARDS our dreams, that is where the fears, insecurities and doubts come up. And the biggest block of all is the need for security and certainty.

You see, you can't been a Seeker on The Path and value certainty over the adventure of creating yourself. We have to learn to let go of our attachment to what's comfortable, easy and safe and learn to become strong enough in our Faith to not avoid or prevent uncertainty, but to be solid within uncertainty.

The Path is one of uncertainty, of stepping out into the unknown and of being able to remain solid even when we don't know what the next moment will bring.

So many people will never realize their dreams because they place certainty so high in their lives that they never break free and dive deep into the unknown. It's a rare individual who feels the fear and does it anyway. It's an uncommon person who steps out into the unknown and goes ALL IN with their dreams.

I've come to believe that when I personally take risks on behalf of my dreams that there is great certainty, not through facts, figures, metrics or physical proof, but through the faith I place in The Uni-verse. I have come to know that no matter what I will be taken care of, I will meet the perfect people at the perfect time and that right before huge breakthroughs are moments of big time doubt.

The goal for us is not to shy away, no, our goal is to step out even though we are terrified of the unknown. We are journeyers, we are travelers, we are Seekers on a Path into our own Highest Potential. We are not promised certainty from the world, but rather from our Faith. It takes a strong person to step out into the unknown, day in and day out, to risk being wrong, to risk making huge mistakes when the stakes are even bigger and to be willing to fail. It takes an even stronger person to fail and then to pick themselves back up and realize that failure is only failure if we give up. Instead, this strong person sees failure as a lesson, as an education and as a test of how much we truly believe in ourselves.

You see, success on The Path comes in two forms: the first is being able to keep going when you would normally quit (this is a HUGE win), the second being  self-realized enough to be free from or at least understand your fear. These two things do not guarantee a huge financial pay off, but once you have these two things it makes it much easier to be a savvy entrepreneur because
you will not only be fearless, you will choose a path that is based on the right livelihood. As Russell Simmons says, "Money doesn't make you happy, but happy can make you money".

The key is to not give up, but to keep going.

Do you have what it takes?

Love,

Mastin
