♠ HOTTT New Island Pop! ♠ Kimanda Cunningham ft. Calado - Need You!

With the world appreciating the seasonings of Caribbean music, there is an emerging genre
of music called 'Island Pop' that's catchy, R&B fused, and the perfect music to 'chill' to!

Two young artists who are riding the Island Pop wave is Kimanda Cunningham and Calado with their song "Need You!"

Produced by Icon, the riddim is catchy and the lyrics are a love song between a couple who like
each other and are on the verge of taking their relationship to the next level.  Kimanda sings:

"you're my guy / my guy / I like your style you're not a shy guy...."

Take a listen to their song at the link below and tell us what you think!

Don't Let Love Pass You By!

Courtesy of Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Many times we wish and wish for the right person to come into our lives. We don't seem to understand why it's not working out with others. We end up in toxic, unloving relationships, and deep down know something better is out there.

The challenge is, when something better does come along, to not run away.

After years of disappointment, heart break and unhappy endings, it can be very easy to close down on real love. No matter what, don't' let that happen!

Remember, strength in the muscles of your body is created by your muscles being ripped apart, and then rebuilt. Your heart and your emotional intelligence and fitness operate the same way. It is easy to close down after you've been hurt. It's easy to throw a wrench into real love when it comes. I understand it's scary, but WHO CARES

Move forward in spite of your fear. Move forward INTO the scariness of it all. Be courageous. Don't let fear win. OPEN UP anyway. The risk of not opening, in the end, is far worse than the risk of opening.

Don't let love pass you by. Don't let fear win.

NO! Instead, let love win. Open up, even when, you are afraid. Open up, even when you are scared of getting hurt. Open up, even when you don't know what's going to happen.

Listen to me: LOVE WILL PASS YOU BY if you always choose the safe path.

I am not suggesting that you open up to the first person who comes along. No. I am not suggesting that at all. I am suggesting that when you have a connection with someone, when you feel it, when you are so scared of how much you feel it, go in the opposite direction of your fear. Do not be afraid of the love you feel.

KNOW THIS: The right person will meet you. The right person will show up. But they can't if you don't open.

Learn to value openness and rebuilding your heart more than safety. Don't let the wounds of the past create a wounded future. No. It can be different. Love can be yours. But first you must be open to it. Learn how to be more loving from your past pain, not how to be more closed.

Don't give up on love, no, give IN TO love!

Just 'Chill' with ZJ Sparks!

For this blog post, we have to set the mood...

Imagine it's a Thursday night and you've had a long day at work.  The only thing on your mind is to see your significant other who calls you to say they have the bottle of wine and should be over in a few.

You light the candles and start the fireplace.  The only thing missing is the music ... what do you play?!

Courtesy of ZJ Sparks, you now have 1 hour and nineteen minutes of 'Sparked Up Vol. 4 - Coconut Breeze Edition' which is the best musical selection of music in the 'chill category.'  "With this mix, I didn't want to go too fast, and I didn't want to go too slow ... I just wanted people to enjoy good music while in the company of friends," said the DJ from her mixing studio in Jamaica.

Team L3 tested the mix out during a recent company mixer, and the mix went over well.  Not only did the team like the mix, they requested copies!

Catch your copy of the certified 'chill' mix by clicking on the link below.  P.S.  Sparks was able to get some exclusive releases that you can't hear anywhere else so enjoy!

You and Your Personal Legend!

The following is a reprint from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

One of the top things that will block you from success is lack of focus

This is what I'm reminded of this week as I (finally) read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I'm probably the last person on Earth to read this book, but I still received massive value from it.

Coelho 's story is about a young shepherd who is called on a journey in search of treasure and realizing his own "Personal Legend". A Personal Legend is something that only you are called to explore and give to this world. In TDL-speak, I would say that a Personal Legend is your own unique gift that the Uni-verse created you to give to this world.

Now, if you were living under a rock like me and haven't read the book, I am warning you that this blog has spoilers!

Our hero, a simple shepherd who loved to travel, went on a wonderful journey where he left his familiar world by following omens, met mentors, was placed in situations he never imagined for long periods of time and was finally brought to his true love (which he had to leave in order to realize his Personal Legend). One of my favorite lines from this book is "When you REALLY want something The Uni-verse will conspire to bring it to you."

On the surface though, it seems in this story though, that it isn't true.

What the author does so well is point out what we really want. As our hero falls in love, he thinks that is what he truly wants, but that isn't so. He wants the self-respect and knowing that he accomplished his Personal Legend and that he gave his unique gift to the world. To do this he had to leave the woman he loved and face the possibility of death. Our hero gets the girl in the end, but as a fulfilled man, rather than one still yearning to realize his Personal Legend. Loving from a place of fulfillment is what true love is all about!

I love this message; it speaks to me in so many ways. I am a lover. I'm such a lover that I created The Daily LOVE (lol). All I truly want is to love and be loved, but I believe that my Personal Legend is much broader than that. I don't want this for just myself; I want this for every person in the world. I desire strongly for everyone on this planet to realize that they have a unique gift to give to this world and they have the tools to give that gift. I want everyone to be strong enough and to love themselves enough to love and be loved in return. I believe if more people were in a state of loving most of the time that many of the world's apparent "problems" would fix themselves and our man made world would come back into alignment with the Perfection of the Uni-verse.

Time and time again I have had to put off that Love I want so much with another person for my Personal Legend. And sometimes, The Uni-verse keeps it at a distance from me, too. The message of The Alchemist is clear: you have a Personal Legend that the Uni-verse WILL support you to fulfill; all the resources you need to achieve your Personal Legend are within you right NOW; and don't settle for someone else to fill you up - fill YOURSELF UP by achieving and becoming the embodiment of your Personal Legend.

Are you settling in life? Is there something greater calling you? Heeds it's call. There is a great adventure waiting for you if you just say YES with your thoughts, actions and desires. You WILL be supported. You WILL be challenged and you WILL face the death of your own ego. BUT - on the other side of this adventure is self-respect, a Light and a Love about which ALL the epic stories are written. This kind of life is possible for you! Are you going to answer the call of YOUR Personal Legend?

On behalf of The World, I say to you, "We hope so!"

Love,

Mastin

2011 Billboard Music Awards!

Fueled by the fantastically filthy hit "F**k You," Cee Lo Green's latest solo album "The Lady Killer" built upon the singer/songwriter's legacy as a member of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley. "F**k You" climbed to No. 2 on the Hot 100 earlier this year, while Green can now be seen coaching prospective vocal talents on NBC's new singing competition, "The Voice."

Minaj takes the stage as a finalist for four Billboard Music Awards, including Top New Artist and Top Rap Artist, after her debut disc "Pink Friday" hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Young Money star has most recently been rocking stages across North America on her mentor Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music tour.

Pitbull enjoyed another year of hits, both with his own tracks ("Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor)," "Give Me Everything") and as a guest feature (Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love," Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor"). The rapper is a finalist for three Billboard Music Awards, including Top Latin Artist.

Rihanna, Eminem, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber lead the finalists for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, which were announced earlier this month at a press conference in Las Vegas. The awards take a holistic look at artist performance based on key fan interactions with music, including sales data shared by Nielsen SoundScan, radio airplay monitored by Nielsen BDS, streaming data measured by Tubemogul and Nielsen BDS, social media consumption gauged by Next Big Sound and tour grosses tracked by Billboard Boxscore. Finalists and winners are determined by chart performance and social and streaming activity as chronicled in Billboard magazine and on Billboard.com during the eligibility period of Feb, 28, 2010 and Mar. 1, 2011.

Hosted by "The Hangover Part II" star Ken Jeong, the BBMAs will air on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 22 at 8-11pm ET/PT. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com. For up-to-the-minute updates on the show, visit our recently launched microsite, Billboard.com/BBMA, or follow along on Twitter (twitter.com/billboarddotcom) and Facebook (facebook.com/billboard).

Rejection Benefits You!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

It sucks to experience rejection.

No one likes it. It's the bane of the dating & entrepreneurial experience.

As someone who has experienced rejection many times, I've figured out something. It's only truly rejection if you OWN the rejection. Rejection, at its core, is you rejecting yourself.

I know that sounds a little weird, so let me explain.

If someone "rejects" you, the way you feel about it is directly related to the STORY YOU tell yourself about it.

When you experience rejection with a disempowered attitude, you say to yourself something like: "I'm unlovable", "I'm not good enough", "I'll never find love" or "This is how it always happens".

But - in reality, are those things true? What I've found is categorically - NO.

Because I write and created TDL, many people think I'm in a wonderful relationship. But I'm single. In fact I don't think there's anyone who needs TDL more than me. What I share with you every day isn't from a place of "greater authority", it's because I'm sharing every day what I'm learning. And let me tell you, I've learned A LOT about rejection, both from women and in business.

The funny thing is, what seems like such a "disaster" in the moment, time & time again has been nothing short of pure GRACE. This isn't some Pollyanna, fakely optimistic point of view, either. I've looked back over the years at the people who "rejected me", and have seen how their lives turned out. Time and time again I see, by the reflection of my own life path, that there's no way in hell I would have been able to step into my power by forming a partnership with those people.

I hate it when people say: "rejection is God's protection"; it's so trite and does NOT help in the moment. But what I can tell you is that, in a Uni-verse where "like attracts like", if you're trying to fit a triangle into a circular hole, it just won't fit. It doesn't matter how pretty, attractive or interesting that circular hole is, aint no way a triangle is going in there.

What I've found recently is that instead of trying to force, I just keep coming back to my breath, to my joy of writing, to my exercise program and to my relationship with my Creator. I don't cling anymore; instead I have figured out that I am a triangle, not a circle. And so in this realization, I no longer mourn not fitting with circles; I know who I am and where I fit.

So I focus on belonging to myself, to my Creator and expressing my gifts. You could say I focus on "my game". Now every time I find myself straying away from remembering I'm a triangle, I stop, feel my feelings and let go of the outcome.

It's still not easy, but it's getting easier. At our core we all want to love and be loved. Just make sure it's not at the expense of breaking yourself to fit into a shape that isn't where you naturally belong.

Remember,  you are only truly rejected when you OWN the rejection. If you see the Uni-verse as a giant sorting pile trying to find harmony and balance, you will see these temporary "rejections" as Grace leading you to where and with whom you belong.

Love,

Mastin

Staying Connected to Who You Are!

The text below was taken from Mastin's Daily Download courtesy of The Daily Love.com!

Stay connected to who you are!

What's that mean?

It means to remember that at your center you are Love, abundance and joy. You have come here not to be needy and take, but to be full and give away to the world from that place of full-ness.

When you remember who you are, the desire to chase, to grasp and to yearn stops. You remember that you are a child of The Uni-verse and were created to fulfill a very special purpose. You remember that one of the great promises of Life is that you will be provided for as you walk along the path of your dreams. The fearful mind calms and the mind full of Faith emerges.

You remember that you are enough as you are and that nothing can prove otherwise, other than your own admission that you are less than who you really are.

When you remember who you really are, you surround yourself with loving people. You bask in the fellowship of Love and no longer accept or tolerate abuse and hate.

You pull back from judging others and instead keep your eyes on Love and purifying your own desires and intentions.

You line up your thoughts with Love and then the actions and the fruits of Love naturally follow. You let go of the need to control and let The Uni-verse fill in the gaps, because The Uni-Verse is very intelligent and knows what you need even more than you do.

When you remember who you really are, you Love yourself and your Creator enough to take care of your body with healthy foods, exercise, yoga and breath. You Love your mind enough to not let it run the show, meditate to calm it down so your Love and Spirit shine through.

When you remember who you are, you embrace challenge and catastrophe with acceptance rather than disdain. You know that with the Light comes the Dark and that both are needed in the dance of Life.

When you remember who you are, you are attractive to those who believe what you believe. You don't see rejection as bad, but rather as a sorting device keeping unhealthy matches away from you. You naturally and effortless find Love because you already embody It.

When you remember who you are, life ceases to become difficult and transforms into an adventure you can't wait to take.

When you remember who you are, you live your life following your Heart so that when you get to the end, you say: "What a ride!" instead of wondering, "What if I had...?"

Remember who you are today and all this & more will be yours.

Love,

Mastin

Mother's Day with EVER-G!

For millions of people around the world, Mother’s Day is one of the most special on the calendar.  It’s the day that most celebrate all the things their Moms, Grandmother’s, Aunt’s and Surrogate Mom’s have done for them over the years.

Reggae Icon, EVER-G has released a song in celebration of his Mom and all mothers around the world called “Miss Beautiful!”

Taken from his CD entitled ‘Independence,’ EVER-G loving lays out the reasons why his Mom is beautiful which is a sentiment echoed by many.  The icon sings:  "dearest Mother / I Love you / always have / always will ... thank you for caring when no one else cared / I thank you for listening when I needed an ear / thank you for loving me / freely and unconditionally / for as long as I live / you will always be / Miss Beautiful to me ...."

“My Mom has always been so supportive of my career.  She was there with me at my first performance, so I feel I have to sing a song just for her so she knows how much she means to me.  I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my Mom!”

The song was widely released today to thousands of DJ’s across the L3 Music Distribution network.  DJ Wiz, from CHRY 105.5 FM feels the song is one that “can be played at all times of the year, not just Mother’s Day,” while Tony Carr in the Washington DC area says his listeners are “huge fans of EVER-G’s so this song will receive a lot of play!”  In the UK, Sir Daddy D from Reggae4Us.com applauds EVER-G for making this song saying “we need more music to celebrate women and all the good they do for us men.”

In additional EVER-G news, the Icon has been performing consistently for the past month.  This past weekend he performed at the MP Island Café, which will be followed by performances at the Yorktown Pub on May 1st, Plaza Azteca on May 5th and the Buckroe Beach Reggae Festival on May 7th.  The Icon is also racking up votes at the Virginia Reggae Music Awards website (http://www.virginiareggaeawards.com/votes/all/).  Voting ends on May 13th, 2011, and the awards will be held on May 14th at East Queen’s Way & King Street downtown Hampton, Virginia.

♠ HOTTT New Reggae! ♠ Suga Roy ft. Jahvanti - Falling in Love!

Beres Hammond has paved a smooth road for artists who come after him.  His brand of
Reggae gave birth to Lovers Rock which is a sub-genre of Reggae, and one that is embraced
by all people no matter what their background!

Paying respect to Beres, is Suga Roy and Jahvanti with their cover of Beres's classic
"Falling in Love!"

With the riddim rebuilt by Suga Roy for FireballRecords, Jahvanti offers the smooth Beres style vocals while Suga intro's the chune with somespice in his DJ'd lyrics: "well yuh see Jahvanti / dat girl ah mash up yuh mind / cho mek she know man nuh waste time!"

With that, Jahvanti goes into the memorable lyrics:

"thought I could live without you / thought everything
would be fine / there's nothing special about you /
still you were plaguing my mind / I used to take
you for granted / you were the last thing on my
mind / presently you're the most wanted / at the
top of my line ...!"

Similar to the fantastic vibes between Buju Banton and Beres is the comparison we would give to Suga and Jahvanti with this chune!

◄◄◄ Throwback Thursday! ◄◄◄ DJ Q + Jeremih + 50 Cent. Huh?!

When it comes to DJ Q from Brooklyn, we can't seem to tell the truth!  Just when I say "this is the baddest and best remix," Q creates another remix, which puts a lie on the statement we just made.  Now we've learned to just say "Q has done it again!"

Jeremih and 50 Cent have a song called "Down On Me" which is on the playlist of every music loving person from  Toronto to Trinidad and every country in between.  Released a few months ago, the song is considered new, so Q gave it a Reggae 'throwback.'

Remixing the song to the 'Tek A Train' riddim produced by Teka (which was released a year ago), "Down On Me" has become a Reggae favourite to people hearing the remix for the first time.

Q chose the right riddim for this remix, especially when Reggae enthusiasts are going from that genre to R&B / Rap / Hip Hop and vice versa.
Catch DJ Q's remix of Jeremih ft. 50 Cent and the chune "Down On Me" at the links below!
