Video Preview - Morgan Heritage Perfect Love Song

On the heels of their recent U.S. Northeast tour spanning NYC, Albany, Boston and New Haven, Morgan Heritage give fans an exclusive look beyond the scenes of their latest music video, Perfect Love Song.

Mojo, Gramps, Lukes, Una and Peetah Morgan take fans on the set of their first video in five years for a sneak peak.

The visual for the first single off their upcoming summer album Here Come The Kings is directed by Spencer Antle of Island Company and was shot in the sunny Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami, Florida.

Perfect Love Song has already hit #1 on iTunes Japan Reggae Chart, NMT Top 10 Chart in Atlanta and the Karma Reggae Chart in the UK respectively. It has held the top spot on the latter for 4 consecutive weeks thus far.

It is currently #3 in Italy on the Top 20 Reggae Singles Chart and #14 on Choice FM's Top 20 Reggae Chart in the UK. It also recently topped Radio Dubplate's Hot Bubblers Chart before debuting at #10 on the weekly Reggae Charts in Canada.

Five Steez - Wanna Be Free

Jamaican Hip Hop artiste, Five Steez, has released the new music video for his song, “Wanna Be Free”, which features fellow local MC, Nomad Carlos. The track, produced by France’s DJ King Flow, is featured on the ground-breaking Five Steez debut album, “War for Peace”.

On “Wanna Be Free”, both MC’s share their struggles and their philosophies in deeply personal verses over a jazzy instrumental with fitting vocal samples in the scratch hook by Spain’s Bobby Bob. The music video, directed by Its Lynky & Simon the Writer, shows both artistes rapping at symbolic landmark locations in Kingston, Jamaica.

The concept for the video stems from the song’s obvious chant for freedom,” says Simon the Writer. “The video captures scenes of the General Penitentiary and the local Roman Catholic cathedral, which exhibit our everyday struggle with the powers that keep us mentally and physically enslaved. It isn't to say that all aspects of religion and government are bad, but the song promotes the free will to make choices in life and the video puts those words into visuals. The video also includes historical monuments of Marcus Garvey and other heroes who fought and even died for freedom in Jamaica.”

Since its August 2012 release, “War for Peace” has received excellent reviews from iTunes as well as some underground Hip Hop blogs and even Reggae journalists in Europe and Jamaica. “This is real music to help people in the struggle find peace.says Five Steez. “It is new millennium boom-bap Hip Hop with soulful production, heavily themed with a lot of commentary, storytelling, introspection and raw lyricism on display.”

Since 2010, Five Steez has been making a name for himself among underground Hip Hop fans worldwide through features on various Hip Hop blogs and websites. Despite the fact that local artistes of the genre go largely unrecognized in Jamaica, he is seen as one of the leaders of an emerging Hip Hop movement in Kingston.

Mighty Crown Steals When Dubs Did Nice!

Mighty Crown "The Far East Rulers" thrilled fans in Toronto, Canada recently by inviting surprise iconic dancehall artists Brigadier Jerry and Johnny Osbourne to perform live dubplates on their sound during a hardcore sound system exhibition. The event, geared at capturing the historical essence of 'sound clashing' - called for the use of real 'steel' dub plates and surprise guest artists. This proved to be a landmark moment on Mighty Crown's "Driving Force Tour" for numerous reasons, as Johnny Osbourne has not performed in Canada in over 20 years and has not performed with Brigadier Jerry in over a decade.

"It was a historical moment performing on Mighty Crown with the legendary Brigadier Jerry," says Johnny Osbourne. "This performance brought me back to the good old days....Big up to Mighty Crown for respecting Foundation artists!"

"I had a blast! The crowd gave us such an overwhelming welcome with whistles, yells and cheers....it was a sight to see," says Brigadier Jerry enthusiastically. "It's been a good while since Johnny Osbourne and I have worked together and he performed wonderfully. We did a combination that was even more wicked than a solo performance....this event was really, really nice and I am ready to do it again!"

These two purveyors tore the place down performing live dubplates. Can you say wicked? The moment was monumental as the two artists vied for the crowd's attention, delivering a flawless exchange of lyrics and vocals.  Osbourne belted dubplate style versions of his hits while Brigadier Jerry leveled the crowd with his unique lyrical flow. Mighty Crown certainly moved heads with this feat, bringing the rare combination of these powerhouse acts to Toronto. Let's just say, this epic performance sealed the deal for Mighty Crown as leaders in the sound system arena.

One of Mighty Crown's goals on the "Driving Force Tour" is to show fans that through all the success and ventures, music is the root....music is their DRIVING FORCE. What a great way of celebrating their ode and passion for music with the delivery of music legends Brigadier Jerry and Johnny Osbourne! Mighty Crown's explosive Toronto performance recaptures the essence and deep connection of sound systems and artists. Think of it as a history lesson for the new generation of dancehall fans in attendance, as before actual dubplates these took the form of live and unique performances by artists on sound systems. See Mighty Crown on their highly acclaimed "Driving Force Tour." Check out their complete schedule
