L3 Magazine January 2013 Featuring Busy Signal!

Busy Signal made international headlines when he was arrested upon returning from his European tour in May 2012.  The artist made even bigger headlines when he was released in November of 2012.  His charge was absconding bail, his impact – significant!

Tricia ‘ZJ Sparks’ Spence sat down with the artist for an intimate interview in which the artist bared his soul.  How did Busy respond when Tricia asked him “When they slam that door behind you and you are locked in darkness with only a sliver of light, what does Busy Signal think?”

Find out the artists response which is intensely honest, and will shock you.

UK Pop sensation and icon, Misha B is one of the fastest rising stars not just in the UK, she’s growing in North America.  Our UK editor, Portia Clarke sits down with Misha for an exclusive look into her thought process when making music as well as her fine eye for visual details.  As she says ‘the visual has to match the song!’

Fans will love Misha’s candor, especially when Portia flipped the topic of music into the topic of food!  What did Portia commit Misha into cooking for her, and what’s Misha’s must have fashion piece?!  Read the exclusive!

The most called on name right now from the newer generation Reggae artist is Chronixx.  His music connects, his performances connect and he is totally connected to his creative process.  He speaks to Tricia ‘ZJ Sparks’ Spence marking his first major magazine interview.  Find out why performing on tracks makes the artist physically ill as opposed to performing with a band which allows his energy to flow!

Rounding out the January issue, we look at the talents of Nickieshia Barnes, Jesse James and Nova Scotia’s Jazz sensation, Kirsten Olivia.  We also take a fresh look at Soca through the eyes of Houston’s Fire Kyle from Rhythm International as well as Toronto’s own Soca Sweetness!  Jerome Dupont of Neu Era Photography delights fans with his photoshoot of Ms. January while Jamaica’s JJ Wizzle is featured as one of the hottest DJ’s on the world map!

Live Show ft. Sizzla, Jesse Royal, Raging Fyah & Jah9!

XTM.Nation(formerly Xterminator Productions) has put together a specially thought out theme and line-up for the lovers of love and fans of live music.

Dubbed ‘The Resistance’, the live showcase will feature revolutionary sounds from Jesse Royal, Jah9 and Raging Fyah; three performers that have stamped their class on Jamaica’s present live music scene.
They will be joined by the experienced Sizzla Kalonji and with his original band, ‘The Firehouse Crew’.

Sizzla will be taking the audience back to his roots; his performance will be livicated (dedicated) to his former manager, producer, teacher and friend; Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell.

Burrell who sadly passed on December 3, 2011, was a major hand in making Sizzla the household name he is today and held a very dear place in the hearts of the multitude of souls he influenced.  ‘Guru’, as he was affectionately called by Sizzla, is responsible for producing hits such as ‘Praise Ye Jah,’ ‘Taking Over’ and ‘No Other Like Jah’.

Kalonji has been riding a high since his unforgettable performance at The National Arena recently, but this doesn’t mean he will outshine the relatively fresh: Raging Fyah, Jesse Royal and Jah9.  Where these artistes lack in experience they make up in passion. They are all top graduates from the schools of Wickie Wackie and Jamnesia live scenes and have continued to master their craft for audiences from Poland to Zimbabwe.  Driven by righteousness, these three performers compliment Sizzla perfectly.

No meal is complete without a little desert. To sweeten ‘The Resistance’ a little, ‘Xterminator’s Audio Angel’, Kayla Bliss was added to the line-up. Kayla captivated the ears of Fatis Burrell, and was working with him in the studio until his untimely passing.

‘The Resistance!’ will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2012 (showtime is 8pm)
at South Beach Café (Jamaica). The prices for presold tickets are $700, while it is $1200 at the gate. Presold tickets will be available at Shell (Manor Park), Texaco (Liguanea), Artique (Mall Plaza), I-Nation Books, Veggie Meals On Wheels, Advanced Couriers and Genus Pharmacy (Portmore).

Delly Ranx Shares ‘The Next Chapter’ With The World!

Dancehall and Reggae veteran Delly Ranx has released his music video for “The Next Chapter” and fans can’t get enough!

Shot entirely on location in Kingston, Jamaica, Delly teamed with Terminal 4 Media to create a story depicting various stages of Delly’s life.  With an opening scene of a book’s pages turning, the video takes a first look at the artist speaking with a humorous impersonation of Larry King whom Delly calls ‘Harry King,’ then throws back to recording sessions in the studio.

Exercising creativity, Terminal 4 Media then flashes to a family seemingly going through difficulties which is juxtaposed by a decision the male character must make:  a life of fast money, or a life honoring Mommy.  “We thought it would be good to not only show off Delly, but show off a real life scenario that everyone can relate to.  We all face difficulties in some way or another, so this was important for us to show.”

An exclusive first peak of the video was shared with Delly’s closest friends and family who were so excited about the video’s outcome, Terminal 4 Media’s YouTube channel received an unprecedented number of hits in a short period of time.  “Everyone who’s seen the video say we did a great job and that fills me with pride” said Delly from his studio in Orlando.  “We want the fans to connect to the video and they have so I’m pleased.”

The Next Chapter is the lead song from Delly Ranx newest studio album of the same name which was released July, 2012.  The song is currently topping charts in North America, Europe and the artists home of Jamaica.  The music video acts as the eyes and ears of his fans.

The self reflective song, which discusses changes in the artists personal and professional life, embraces a new path and direction.  Transitioning from yesterday to today, Delly includes fans on the newest chapter of his journey.  The song is an international success.

The 18 track disc is available on all major digital retail outlets including iTunes and Amazon.  Physical format discs are available via www.dellyranx.com.

The Downtown Riddim!

The Montreal reggae duo Riddim Wise is proud to present their new production The Downtown Riddim, in association with Transamazoniennes records. This new album features some of the biggest names in Jamaican reggae such as Sizzla Kalonji, Lutan Fyah, Turbulence, I Shenko, Perfect and Mikey General but also some of the best artists from Canada like Mikey Dangerous, Dan Fiyah Beats, Marky Lyrical, Face T and King Shadrock. Africa is represented as well with the presence of Senegalese rapper Awadi featuring Congolese singer Tibass Kazemtik, and finally from the French Amazon Surinamese singer Prince Koloni

The two partners from Riddim Wise have been making their name by hosting a radio show for the past twelve years as well as performing live « Sound Systems » and working as a recording and production label. Their mission was to unify artists from all over the world on one common « Riddim ».

Diversity and quality are definitely present, as veterans and big stars share the spotlight with young and upcoming artists. Lyrically the songs range from talking about love to fighting freedom, from passion to resilience, bringing a very rich and conscious aspect to this album. Jamaican Patois, English, French, Sranang Tong (Guyana) and Lingala (Congo) make this a unique and eclectic project.

The name of the « Riddim » pays tribute to the mythical neighbourhood of downtown Kingston, pictured on the album cover. This is a wonderful production created in the purest reggae tradition.

The Downtown Riddim is now available on iTunes for download or preview listening.
