♠ HOTTT New Reggae! ♠ Sizzla ft. Half Pint, Jimmy Riley & Fanton Mojah - Selassie is the King!

Sizzla, alongside Half Pint, Jimmy Riley and Fanton Mojah have decided to close out the year 2010 and open 2011 with a proclomation:  'Selassie is the King!'

Performed to a sweet one drop riddim, each artists contribution repeats the message that Rastafarian's around the world knows, which becomes the song's punchline.

When we hear this song, we're reminded how far Jamaica has come, and thwe world for that matter, in term's of accepting Rasta's.  In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, Rasta's were hunted, tortured and killed because of their choice to wear dreadlocks.  Many of them had to hide in the hills to avoid cruelty perpetrated by those who didn't understand their faith.  Celebrating their faith openly was forbidden, much less recording a chune like this!

Today, not only are Rasta's respected, there are some who wear dreadlocks as a fashion statement which promotes Rastafari visually!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, and 89 BPM, catch Sizzla, Half Pint, Jimmy Riley and Fanton Mojah on this beautiful chune "Selassie is the King" by clicking the song title above the picture.  As always, share your feedback so we can pass it on!

♠ HOTTT New Music! ♠ Tifa + King Turbo!

Tifa and ZJ Chrome have a brand new release on the Dancehall EFX riddim which is certified murdah!  Known for her provocative and true lyrics which are always riddled with positive punch lines Tifa drops this especially for the ladies:
yuh ave fih know how fih care it / do exercise / nuh
wear an tear it / nuh give no loose ride!
The name of the chune is "Good Up" which speaks to the vibes of the chune and the riddim!
Make sure you request the chune from your favourite radio station, in the Dancehall and from mixtape Kings and Queens!

Canada is still developing when it comes to sound systems who qualify to be representatives
on the international stage.  If I am to be totally honest, I would say we have two.  Of those two, one set the foundation for the younger generation and that would be King Turbo!
Born in Scarborough, the sound was the first of the younger generation to have a studio for
voicing dubplates, mixed tapes that reached all corners of the world, and two radio shows.
Both shows are still on the air, one on 89.5 FM and the other on 93.5 FM.  King Turbo was
one of the first sound systems to put Canadian artists on the international map.  Lindo P and
Blessed are just two examples.
I should also mention that when I decided to leave my practice as a Paralegal in Entertainment Law, King Turbo gave me my first job as their manager.  Believe me, our roots go deep!
So why all the history?  Sometimes it's good to know who you're playing with before you even
start! Spex stopped by our offices this week to personally drop off the latest mixes which show off why they are, and always will be the King!

♣ HOTTT New Dancehall! ♣ King Ali Baba - Don't Play Wid Mi Gyal!

You know the expression 'duppy know who fih frighten?!'  For those of you who are not from Jamaica, it means a person knows who they can mess with from who they can't.
In King Ali Baba's new chune "Don't Play Wid Mi Gyal," the King meets up with a girl
who thinks she can play with him, but before that, the King builds the story with these lyrics:
"Mih drive / inna mih banga an mih lay back /mih nah worry / mih soon caan buy mih Maybach /mih wave / to ah gyal an she ah wave back /mih seh to mihself / tonight me aggo cave dat mih pick har up / tek ar on a ride out / to open sesame / tek har to mih hide out / first thing /mih condom it slide out ..."
What we really respect about the chune is the King's use of lyrics.  If you listen to what he
says at face value, it's just that.  If you apply the double meaning of the lyrics, you quickly
appreciate his mastery of 'double meaning!'
Broadcasting at 320kbps, and 81 BPM, catch King Ali Baba's latest chune "Don't Play Wid
Mih Gyal" here:
