Never Abandon Yourself To Please Another

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

It's so easy to get pulled in many directions throughout your life. Living at the whim of other people's opinions and trying to please them all is the surest way to fail.

It's so easy to be swayed by other people, especially people we love and respect. Whether it's family, friends, a lover, business partners, mentors or our idols, we can lose our balance by trying to please too many masters.

The answer to this quandary is simple, but not easy.

First and foremost it is vital to please yourself, but not in some selfish, narcissistic way, no. Rather, it's important to be able to check with yourself and make sure your mind, body and spirit are aligned. If we become too focused outwardly, which is VERY easy to do, we start going down the path of losing ourselves in others.

This isn't to say that it's not important to love others, to listen to them and learn from them. But the core message I want us all to integrate is that we should never abandon ourselves to please another. This is the worst kind of abandonment. Other people may "abandon" us or not approve - this is okay and we can still keep going. But when we abandon and disapprove of ourselves, we start down a dark path. We must be our own best friend and learn to trust ourselves as a starting point towards being fulfilled.

Without these core set points, it is almost impossible to manifest anything else. When your cup is full you have more to give away. Finding balance within is a life long journey that we can never truly master because we are always learning, growing and changing. The key is to seek progress and not perfection, because perfection is ultimately unknowable and unachievable.

So today, let's not worry about the opinion of others. Let's not abandon ourselves to please other people. Let's not give our power away because we feel we need the approval of other people. No, today - let's stay in integrity and practice saying "yes" to ourselves and "no" to the world if need be. And let's not feel bad about it. Let's own saying "no" to the world and "yes" to ourselves.

Let's celebrate filling ourselves so that we may be of even greater service to the world.

Love,

Mastin

One Day at a Time!

"Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us."

- Wilma Rudolph,

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

One day at a time. That is all you have to do is face life, your dreams and all the challenges one day at a time.

So many times we can get caught up in the possible outcomes of the future that we become our own worst enemies. Huh? When we imagine all the possible negative outcomes and then let those dictate our picture of the future, we are not doing our dreams or ourselves any good.

There is no use worrying about things that haven't happened yet. This isn't to say that we shouldn't prepare for all possible outcomes. Knowing the potential negative outcome of any situation is a good thing; but to obsess, focus on the worry only about the negative outcomes takes us out of pragmatism and into negative life creation.

The balanced Seeker on The Path must consult the negative mind and the positive mind and let our neutral minds decide. To be too optimistic without the awareness of the possible negative outcomes can set us up for dramatic failure, as can being so negative about a potential outcome that that is all we focus on as well.

Balance is the key. Starting now is the engine and belief/faith is the fuel.

We meet the future one day and one challenge at a time. It is not wise to project a negative outcome towards the future, unless that is what you want to create. And no one really wants to create a negative outcome. Project positivity, be aware of negativity and reside in the neutrality of a calm mind.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, take a step back and breathe. Don't try to solve everything all at once. Instead, just take the next step. It's so easy to get overwhelmed by our dreams and all the things that "have to" happen, that we never start. One step forward is better than none. Persistence pays over time. Take one step a day and pretty soon you're well on your way.

Relax dear Seeker, let go a little. Don't worry about what will happen a week, a month or a year from now. Meet the present moment knowing that you are provided for and just take one step today. You don't have to climb that mountain all at once. Just one step at a time.

Love,

Mastin

Maybe!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Can you live in the maybe?

When my Dad asked my Mom to marry him, she didn't say yes or no... She said maybe.

When I think about that, it makes me a little edgy. To think that the person I love said maybe, instead of an immediate yes, puts my ego into an uproar.

What did my Dad do? Did he demand that she answer him now and tell her that if she didn't say yes, that she didn't really love him? Nope.

My Dad said, "Cool, well I'll give you 10 years to think about it..." And that was that; he let it go.

Then, two weeks later my Mom said yes and they've been happily married for 32 years.

I credit this partly because of this major act of selfless trust that my Father placed into my Mom without any pressure. There is a lot to be learned from this act of trust.

I know if it had been me, I don't know if I could have kept my cool. I would have wanted an immediate answer. I mean, my emotions and heart are on the line; you don't mess with those! But instead of being demanding and selfish, my Dad let go and trusted the outcome.

How many of us can do that in life? Instead of demanding what we want and wanting it now, can we ask The Uni-verse for what we want, and then let go? Can we rest in the peace of the moment knowing we are provided for and that the perfect thing, which is probably better than what we asked for in the first place, will show up?

Do we really have the faith to live the maybe? Or better put, can we see that the delays of The Uni-verse are not It's denials? Can we let go and let things unfold naturally?

The Truth is that the perfect outcome will happen. My Mom told my Father yes; but if she had said no, he would have gotten the Truth and been able to move on to find a woman who loved him and could go the distance.

Ask for the emotional sobriety and peace of mind to be ok living the maybes. Get comfortable in the in-between. Know that delays are not denials and have fun in the moment, in the mean time, as it evolves into an ever better version of reality.

Do you have what it takes to live the maybe today?

Take A Risk!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

It's amazing how much life can change for the better when you take risks on behalf of your dreams.

This isn't some airy-fairy statement. The Uni-verse made you to fulfill your purpose, so It WILL support you in doing so.

So many of us live lives that are cut off, shut down and in our comfort zone. We value certainty over love & our happiness. In the end, we'll come to see that there is no certainty in life, only the appearance of certainty. In reality, its actually riskier to not take risks 'cuz when you get to the end of you're life, when you take your final breath, a thought that should cross no one's mind will come up - "what if I had...".

Coming to the end of your life and wondering "what if " is a fate worse than any risk you can take now. None of us get out of life alive, so what we must remember is that it is the loving risks, adventure and our contributions to the world that count. Everything else is secondary.

The people who change the world and who truly have happiness live consciously or unconsciously like this every day. They choose to expand outside their comfort zone, instead of retreat into it. They choose to let Love win and focus on being kind instead of being right. They value scars over perfection. They add more value to life than they take from it. They let The Uni-verse guide them through their heart, instead of letting the fears of their head run their life. And when they come to the end, they rejoice, for they have been used up completely, given everything and extracted every bit of love, joy and adventure from life.

Don't shut down. Let's us not retreat into our comfort zones. Let's step out. Let's stand up. Let's make a stand that today and everyday forward to let our faith be stronger than our fear. We prove this to ourselves through action, not just words. We back up our faith through taking constant and persistent action towards the things we say we believe and have faith in.

We set an intention to not be one of those people who gets to the end of life and wonders "what if ?", but instead we say, "I stood for something and I made a difference".

The promise of Life is that you are taken care of, you are supported and dreams are real. We have been given a life not to live in fear, but to step forward and live out of gifts and our dreams. This cannot happen if you do not make the choice in every moment to be ALL IN when it comes to your dreams.

There is a mysterious force that helps us when we risk on behalf of our dreams. This is The Uni-verse silently guiding our paths, opening the perfect doors for us and closing the dead ends.

Roll with the punches, go with the flow, let go and consciously design your life to be lived on behalf of your dreams instead of your fear. And remember, how long must you try? That's right. Until.

Who do you want to be when you look back on your life? Do you want to wonder "what if"? Or smile knowing you gave it your all. Right now, you have a choice to change the outcome of that moment. What'll it be?

Love,

Mastin

Calm in Chaos!

"Somewhere in your make-up there lies sleeping, the seed of achievement which, if aroused and put into action, would carry you to heights, such as you may never have hope to attain."

- Napoleon Hill, from his groundbreaking book "Think and Grow Rich".

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

I've been writing about all the change that's been happening in my life lately. I've just moved into a beautiful house with some of the folks from Café Gratitude here in LA.

I've been stressing about this move for a couple weeks - why? I don't like change. But, today I moved and arrived in my new home and all the stress went away. This move, and many other changes in my life - has once again taught me a very important principle of life.

As I sit here in my new home, feeling totally safe, totally calm and in full appreciation of this welcomed change in my life, I remember, yet again this principle.

I call this principle the Trust Principle. Basically, the Trust Principle is this: trust that everything is working out for your best interest and aim to keep the peace of mind during the process that you would have at the end of it once it does work out.
Wait, huh?

What I'm saying is, time and time again we go through change and stress out. Most times, it always works out for the best and sometimes even better than we imagined. And once we get to the end and find resolution, we are at peace. My goal is to have and keep that peace WHILE I'm going through the "stressful" change. The Trust Principle is a way of being that just Trusts that the changes we're going through are sent from The Uni-verse and for our best interest. So, instead of choosing stress as our response, we choose trust. Instead of freaking out, we remain calm. Instead of assuming the worst, we choose to assume that this change is GRACE and as such, assume the BEST.

This is the Trust Principle in action: to be going through a stressful change and to hold a space of trust within you that all is well. It may feel weird at first, especially because a lot of your friends, family and society will probably be freaking out, too. So, today, take a step back - don't assume the worst. No, assume the best. Declare the changes of your life as Grace in action and are actually ANSWERS to your prayers, instead of punishments or negative turn of events.

When we are firmly rooted in Trust, The Uni-verse can work through us in amazing ways that we will only truly understand after the fact. So, let the change come. Let the confusion come. Let all things new come. And hold a center of Trust throughout it all. Imagine it working out perfectly or even better and choose to remain in that calm place during the chaotic change.

This is the Trust Principle. Use it from now on and watch the miracles of Grace unfold in your life.

Let Love Decide!

There are a lot of tools in the toolbox of your dreams.

Love is letting go.

Period.

It's the Energy of Love that binds The Uni-verse together. Love is what breathes life into us and gives all living things this chance to be alive.

One of the most Loving things that we've been given from our Creator is the gift of choice. Choice is a fundamental part of life. Free will is one of our Creator's greatest gifts to us.

Free will boils down to this: you can choose to connect to Love, or not.

Since we've been given the privilege to choose for ourselves, that means if you Love someone, you must give him or her that privilege. Trying to force or manipulate Love never works - it'll only backfire.

If you say you Love someone because of what they can give you, that's not Love, that's selfishness. When you Love someone, it's always from a place of overflow rather than lack.

Respecting someone's free will can be both devastating AND truly rewarding. When you let people go to decide for themselves, they may choose things that don't match up with your desires. There have been many times in my own life where this has happened, both in business and in my personal life.

But every time this shattering of illusion has happened, it's brought me closer to the Truth. AND it's brought me closer to Love.

At the same time, when you let go and honor someone's free will there is also the possibility that they will choose you; and when that happens you have begun to plant very strong roots for a relationship.

Love is letting go because no one feels Loved when they are controlled or manipulated. No one really feels Loved when they can sense that someone is trying to take from them instead of give.

There is a difference between taking and receiving. It's sooooo important to be able to receive Love. But to try to drain others of their Love isn't Loving - it's being an emotional vampire.

All this can be flipped and applies to YOU, too. You deserve to be with someone who Loves you right where you are. You deserve someone who is so connected to Love that they have the confidence to let you choose for yourself. You deserve to be in relationships where people are sharing from overflow rather than trying to be emotional vampires.

Choose to hang with people who give you the respect to let you decide. And at the same time give those you Love this same respect.

Remember, you are always provided for. The Uni-verse and The Energy of Love are always with you. Ask to feel Love's presence and you will be filled - not by someone else, but by The Uni-verse.

Tell yourself, "Love is letting go. I am ok. Love is letting go. I am full as I am. Love is letting go. The perfect Love will find me. Love is letting go, so I let go and let Love decide".

Love,

Mastin

Dreams Can Coem True ... Just Ask!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

There are a lot of tools in the toolbox of your dreams.

One of the most important tools that we don't know how to use very often is the tool of asking. One of the great Uni-versal truths is, "Ask and ye shall..." yes - we all know this one, "receive".

But what does that mean? Well, if there is something you want and you don't have the courage or self-esteem to ask for it, OR - if you ask for it, but start feeling insecure and unworthy, then what you are receiving in that moment is the awareness of your own low self-esteem.

So, in this first stage of your asking, it may sound like this Uni-versal Truth isn't delivering 'cuz you aren't getting what you want. But if we take it one step closer, we will see that this Truth doesn't link up with what we want - it lines up with what WE ARE.

So... What's that mean?

In the case of low self-esteem, if you want something great big huge "Ask and ye shall receive" can be seen in this Light:

"I am asking for what I want and what I'm receiving is an internal signal that shows me that I have a core belief that I am unworthy of the thing I'm asking for. "

It's vital to have this awareness because it is through BREAKING this B/S ILLUSION that you change from being a person of low self-esteem to a person of more balanced and healthy self-esteem.

So, this Truth rings true, even when it doesn't seem like it does. It seems as simple as, "if I ask for something, it will be mine". But what will be yours, BEFORE you get what you ask for, is the awareness of all the inner blocks that are preventing you from receiving what you want.

And the cool and amazing thing is, when you get about the business of becoming a person of healthy self-esteem, by the time that transformation has happened, you may come to see that you don't even want the thing you were originally asking for. Why? 'Cuz many times we ask for things on the outside that we think will make us whole.

But when we go about becoming a whole person from the inside, the desire for outer things lessens and we become more focused on being of service and adding value to the world, instead of just taking FROM the world.

It's so interesting how this works. We want the things we don't need and in the process of achieving to receive them, we come to find out we don't want or even need these things. This is the beauty of desire and why desire is a good thing. We keep searching for wholeness and are tricked by all the "stuff" on the outside and think that these things are what make us whole.

It is in our pursuit of outer "stuff" that a sense of inner lack still continues until we realize that no matter how much "stuff" we have, we will never have enough stuff to make up for not being in contact with our own essence and core Self.

All this to say, get to asking. Start your journey. Go after the things you want, but focus on becoming the person it takes to receive the things you want. And all the while, while you are on your journey, stay open to new points of views and the fact that you are going to change your mind about what you want many, many times. But get to living, get to learning and say yes to your adventure.

We are all scientists testing out this thing called reality. Tap into the Truth that you have to ask and ask big for what you want, but by the time you get it, you will see that wholeness only comes from within. Travel outward to end up inside yourself. This is the journey we are all on. Don't hold back - get to livin'.

You have the Power!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

In every relationship it's important to remember where resentment, anger and jealousy originate - within us.

We build walls, kill intimacy and keep love out by creating resentment within ourselves. And it's only natural to project this resentment onto other people in our lives, especially those we hold dearest to our hearts.

But, our challenge is, time and time again, to come back to ourselves and see that we are 100% responsible for our emotions. It may seem, on the surface, like a totally natural and logical thing to blame others for how we feel. We believe that "they did" something "to us". But see, the thing is, no matter what "they did" "to us", it was always in the past. So, how we live NOW and in the future is in our hands. How do you want to interpret the events of the past? What meaning do you want to apply to the past?

Also, can we have the awareness to step outside ourselves and see how we are showing up in the relationships in our lives? What unexpressed feeling or emotion are we allowing to well up within us, slowly, day by day? Can we own that we are not keeping our side of the table clean?

We can't take responsibility for other people's action, but we are 100% responsible for our reaction to other people. Also, we cannot blame other people for us not keeping our side of the street clean.

Knowing that we have power on both sides of a transgression is a game changer because we see that we can begin to take responsibility for our lives, instead of just being at the whim or other people, places or situations.

How people treat you defines them, how you respond defines you. What happened is what happened. What you choose to do from here will determine the future.

In every moment, the choice is yours.

Love,

Mastin

Opportunity in Chaos

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

When you start living your life from the inside out, when you take your power back from people, places and things, when you start trusting The Uni-verse - there is one very important thing to keep in mind: chaos happens.

But here's the thing about chaos - when you're on The Path, what seems like chaos is many times Grace in Action.

You see, we expect this great big vast and intelligent Uni-verse to act according to human reason. But the problem with that is that what we humans actually know about The Uni-verse is so limited, compared to what there is to know, that many times we see chaos, which is just part of a greater and wiser order that we do not understand.

Also, because we don't know what's going to happen next in our lives, it is Spiritually incorrect to assume the worst when you perceive chaos happening in your life. The Uni-verse speaks in chaos, change and Grace many times appears to be chaos, and right before revelation is usually some form of ego death.

What does that mean?

It means that for us to understand and come into harmony with greater Truths about ourselves and The Uni-verse, our old perceptions AND fears have to be shed (aka die) for new insight to come. Knowing this cycle can be SO helpful when you are going about the business of manifesting your dreams, creating a loving relationship or simply just signing up for the adventure that should be your life.

When you lean into your faith (both in yourself and in The Uni-verse), you invite chaos (aka a higher order of living) into your life. It is part of our calling on The Path to develop emotional fitness and proper insight to see that when things "seem" to be going "wrong" or "changing", not to freak out and apply some doomsday meaning to these events of our lives. Instead, we step back, observe and know that in any seeming change, crisis or chaos is both potential risk AND potential opportunity.

It is those of us who have trained our mind to see and trust the bigger picture (knowing that The Uni-verse is FOR us and never against us) that benefit most from change, chaos and crisis. It is Spiritually backwards to ask for an easy life that works out perfectly AND desire faith in yourself and The Uni-verse. Faith counts the MOST when the ish is hitting the fan.

So today, in your life, whether it be financially, romantically, emotionally, spiritually or any only aspect of your life, if there is chaos or change, just decide that The Uni-verse is working on your behalf and choose to assign a constructive and positive meaning to what's happening in your life. Ask The Uni-verse to reveal the Grace of this moment to you. See the opportunity instead of the fear; decide that you have the power to not only make the best of this situation, but to actually make a better life for yourself BECAUSE of this situation.

For your dreams to come true it's vital that you learn to be flexible enough to adapt to and make the best of change. In fact, don't just make the best of change and the unexpected, get EXCITED by it!

Love,

Mastin

Grace Happens

A lot of folks tend to think, when they are pursuing their dreams, that when things aren't going the way they "want" or the way they "planned", that they should give up. Many of my clients and readers want to give up when things get a little tough. And it's interesting to me to see how easy it is for people to BELIEVE the negative voice in their head, far more than their positive and neutral voices.

It's almost like we are so afraid of getting our heart broken by our dream not coming true that any sign of setback, let down or unmet expectations are an excuse to stop trying.

But see, the thing is, walking on The Path will very rarely ever meet your "expectations". The Uni-verse speaks in paradox. What looks big, is usually small; what looks scary is usually joyful; what seems impossible is very much achievable and what seems hard can be easy. It's just being able to understand the paradoxical nature of The Uni-verse as well as having the emotional fitness and humility to not have to buy into the thought that everything has to go "your way".

Instead of judging a situation as "bad", a "setback" or a "quitting point", look at it this way: see GRACE.

You have no idea how protected, guided and looked after you are. When you look back at this moment in a few weeks, months or years, you very well will look back and see a blessing instead of a setback. So train your mind to refrain from judging a situation. Believe in grace. Instead of running away from your dreams, just sit with the uncomfortable feelings, meditate, take care of yourself and let them pass through you.

Do not run away because it is uncomfortable. Stay BECAUSE it is uncomfortable. Let your fears be purified by facing them. Let your judgments fade by not reacting to them and seeing how they play out over time. Humble yourself and know that things don't have to go YOUR WAY for you to be happy. There could be a way that is being guided from The Uni-verse that is much greater than you could ever imagine.

Emotional fitness, humility and a grace-filled mind will take you where you need to go. Let go of the judgments. Let go of the expectations and just show up fully with whatever you are feeling today. But do not turn back. Stay in the fire. You are not being burned - you are being purified.

Mastin

To Love is a Choice

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Love is more than a feeling. Love is a state of being, a choice, a verb and, when chosen, a very powerful force in the Uni-verse.

When you choose to love someone, you love them even when you don't necessarily like them from time to time. Love transcends moods, circumstances or money. The choice you make to love someone unconditionally is one of the highest choices you can ever make.

If you make your intention to enter into relationships with the mindset "How may I serve" and "How can I grow", instead of "what can I get", that intention will reveal to you so many wonderful things.

The promise of loving someone isn't that they will stay with you for the rest of your life; the promise of loving someone is that you will learn so much about yourself. Many times we have to go through a lot of different relationships to understand what we really want and who we really are. It is through the pain of relationships ending that we truly learn about ourselves and why we make the choices we do.

It is only by wholeheartedly loving the people we choose to be in relationship with that we can see how deep and real the relationship is. If you're in a relationship with someone who doesn't enjoy you being in your power, then the lesson isn't that they are a jerk; ask yourself why you chose to be with someone like that.

It is only by loving deeply that we can live meaningfully and learn about ourselves. Don't live to avoid the pain of heartbreak. Instead live with your heart wide open and let yourself learn the lessons love is trying to teach you. If you don't learn the lesson, you'll just keep attracting the same person in different shoes.

But if you learn the lessons, do the work, and keep your heart open - each relationship will get better and better until you finally find someone that you really gel with - you will find your life partner.

So, today, live openly. Learn the lessons from relationships of the past. Keep your heart open and know that each time it breaks, it's not getting weaker, it's actually getting stronger and wiser.

Finally, don't seek out the perfect lover. Don't chase love. There is nothing and no one to chase. Spend your time being a person who is worthy of being loved and love will be yours in the perfect time.

Learn the lessons. Stop the chase. Open up. Get busy being love-able and all love-able things will flow to you. This is the promise of love.

Love,

Mastin

1% Better Than Yesterday

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

One of my favorite things about life is that we all get a chance, once a day, to start over.

The morning comes bearing gifts of renewal, redemption and a chance to start all over again. The fresh dew on the Spring leaves glimmer as the sun is just starting to poke her head out from the horizon and imbue each morning with the promise of revival. Moments like these remind me that life goes on.

And not only does life go on, but this very morning you have a chance to make a new decision about HOW it goes. I know I don't get it perfect; I mess up every day. I try to kick sugar and I fail 20 times a week. But I try and try again. And each day I am closer to my result

The same thing goes for goals, achieving dreams and the quality of your life. You may not have gotten it perfect in the past, but perfection is never what we can really achieve - only progress. When you stop trying to be perfect and embrace progress OVER perfection - you free yourself to live a life on your terms. We, my friend, are human beings, and by our very nature are not perfect.

But what we can do is welcome the promise of the morning, of each new day that reminds us that we can try again and today get it 1% more right. We can be 1% more on our own side, we can love ourselves 1% more and we can come 1% closer to our dreams.

You and I don't need to get it all done today, because we can't; but we can achieve 1% more than we did yesterday. We can forgive ourselves 1% more than we did yesterday. We can show up for our loved ones more than we did yesterday.

The promise of the morning inspires me every day. Today, I am to do 1% better than I did yesterday. Day-by-day, slowly but surely these small incremental changes will bring about MASSIVE change in our lives.

Embrace the promise of renewal each morning, and for today, don't try to be perfect, just be 1% better than you were yesterday.

Let's get there, together, one day at a time.

Love,

Mastin

Unrequited Love

"Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak; sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go."

- Anon

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

We live in a world of instant gratification.

I had a thought yesterday; it was:

"The only unrequited love that truly exists is towards ourselves."

It seems, so much in our lives, we can experience this sense of love unreturned to us by those we want it from.

You're a lover; I'm a lover; we're all lovers here in The Daily Love community. Deep down all we want is to love and be loved in return. That's the true pulse of the human condition.

Regarding, romantic love specifically, I find it funny (and at times SUPER GNARLY PAINFUL) the dance we all dance. It's like Girl A likes Boy B, but Boy A likes Girl A, and Girl B likes Boy A. I know, that confused me, too. I just think it's funny how many times we desire the one that doesn't want us, or that isn't the best one for us. And yet, at the same time, we have little to no interest in people who desire us. This obviously isn't how it always is, but here in Los Angeles, I find this trend running rampant (in my life, too).

It's really easy to get bummed when someone you really like in that way, doesn't like you back in that way. You know what I'm talking about - you desire them and they think of you only as a friend. Yeah - the friend zone. It happens to the best of us, guys and girls. And, not only that, we are also perpetrators of putting people who like us in the friend zone. It's a two-way street.

The key, though, as we dance, is to remember who you are. Unrequited love from someone can be a bummer for sure, but I don't think that actually exists. Why? It's not because I have never been the recipient of unrequited love; quite on the contrary - it's familiar territory (being on both sides, actually).

When we forget to Love Ourselves, when we forget The Uni-verse is on our side and wants us to thrive, when we forget that we are co-creators of our lives with The Uni-verse, then it's easy to feel unrequited love and have it really affect you. But, I believe that the unrequited love we are feeling isn't from the other person who we desire - it's actually from ourselves.

When we love ourselves, we remember that rejection is protection. When we love ourselves we are careful whom we give our hearts to. When we love ourselves, we see every event of our lives as lessons and know that there are no shortages in The Uni-verse. We know that if it doesn't work out with that someone you had your eye on, or that job you really wanted, something greater is on the way.

We love ourselves and are filled with this love; it's nearly impossible to feel unrequited love from someone else. It's only when we have given that person power over our lives and control over our emotional well-bring that we can feel unrequited love from them. Feeling unrequited love from someone is a symptom of low self-esteem and a misalignment with your power.

So, if you're feeling this way, take your power back today. Put your trust in the things that The Uni-verse has in store for you. Let go a little and see what's next. There is no shortage in The Uni-verse. There is someone perfect for you out there and they will find you as you become more and more of your authentic self.

When you are feeling the low vibrations of unrequited love, don't go chasing after it from other people. STOP, check in within yourself and be still. If you seek out the path of trying to fill yourself up from other people or substances, you will only make it worse. Take care of yourself. Do you! Stay in your power and do things that nurture your heart and soul.

This is what I mean when I say, "The only unrequited love that truly exists is towards ourselves." When we love ourselves, we are not seeking others to fill us and we are free to detach and welcome in the perfect person in the perfect time. And in the meantime, we fill ourselves up so that we have the serenity and joy - so we can step into savoring the waiting, instead of dreading it.

Feeling unrequited love today? Take your power back, love yourself and watch it go away.

Love,

Mastin

Turn Disappointment to Success!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

We've all had major disappointments in life. Things didn't go the way you REALLY, REALLY wanted them to. Maybe a job fell through, that person you had a mad crush on likes someone else or you got a NO when you really wanted to hear a YES.

Enter disappointment.

Depending on the level of our attachment to an outcome, disappointments can range from just slightly disappointing to heart breaking.

No matter what you're going through, don't see this momentary NO and a final NO. When The Uni-verse says NO to us, it is invariably part of a greater YES that we cannot yet see.

So, what do we do in the meantime with the feelings that are left over from letdown, heartbreak and disappointment? Well - you have two choices, you can either choose to self-destruct through ramping up your addiction du jour, or you can choose to take the anger, sadness, confusion and disappointment and channel it towards fulfilling your dreams.

The contrast of not getting what you want fills us with energy (usually anger, sadness, etc). This energy and these emotions are powerful. If we ignore them, then they can get the best of us. Every addiction and negative habit we have at its root is an avoidance of ourselves. So, when things don't go our way, when we feel let down, we our hearts break, we can tend to run from those emotions, instead of facing them and using them to push us forward.

There have been a few times in my life where I have been truly shattered: twice because of girls and once because of a business partner. The first time my heart was broken, I allowed it to get the best of me. I went out more, drank more and ignored my feelings. But that didn't bear any good fruit, just more sadness, more anxiety and more negativity.

I learned about Kundalini Yoga and it changed my life. Doing Kundalini helped me face my negative emotions and actually rid my body of them. From that point forward I've had two major "disappointments", but what I've done has been to channel that energy into fueling my dreams. I had a business partnership that didn't work out. My whole identity was based on this business working out; everything I believed, everything I knew was this business and it faded away. I realized that I was more than just my circumstances.

I was angry, I was sad and I couldn't understand why. But what I did know is that I had a choice; I could choose to self-implode (again) or I could use that energy to build my dreams. Anger can be a positive motivator sometimes. Anger isn't always bad. I believe it's important to celebrate what motivates us.

Using the pain of disappointment to push you even further towards your dreams is a wonderful use of that energy.

So, how do you do it? You take care of yourself, first and foremost. Try Kundalini Yoga, eating an Alkaline Diet, hydrating well and exercise. Get your program down. Then take all those emotions and get busy creating. Those emotions are the primal force of The Uni-verse that exists within you. That energy can be used to make something beautiful or tear down your life. That choice of how to use the primal energy of your emotions is up to you.

Today I challenge you to use your setbacks as gifts, giving you even greater energy to push forward. Channel your feelings towards creating something beautiful, positive and productive. Let go of how you thought things should turn out and get about the business of creating your dreams.

Sometimes The Uni-verse shakes us to wake us. Use disappointments as opportunities to push through.

This energy is within you - how you use it is up to you. I challenge you to use it for creating something valuable, something beautiful, something that will erase the feelings of letdown that you are currently feeling and instead be a beacon for Love, for inspiration and for hope.

Mess Becomes Message!

Before we get to the message from Mastin at The Daily Love.com, we have to share a quote that he shared with us:

"What anyone else has or does not have has nothing to do with you. The only thing that affects your experience is the way you utilize the Non-Physical Energy with your thought. Your abundance or lack of it in your experience has nothing to do with what anybody else is doing or having. It has only to do with your perspective. It has only to do with your offering of thought. If you want your fortunes to shift, you have to begin telling a different story."

- Esther Abraham-Hicks, best-selling author.

Turn Your Mess Into A Message!   My friend Don Nash said that to me... I think it's genius.

The most important part of life, and the only part of life that we can truly control is our perception. We may have influence over other parts of our life, but the only thing we have 100% control over is how we CHOOSE to perceive the events of our lives.

One of the FUNdamental messages of TDL is that you are not a victim, but a co-Creator of your life with The Uni-verse.

It's easy to play the victim and a lot of people out there will try to convince you that it's easier to blame other people for the circumstances of your life. One of the reasons it's easy to be a victim is because you give away the response-ability of the outcome and circumstances of your life to some other person or entity.

As a victim, we tell ourselves that it's not our fault; it's the Government's fault, or our significant other's fault, or our friend's fault or our parents' fault. If you really get creative you can imagine a whole range of people to blame for your life.

But the truth is that you are the one making the choices in your life. YOU have the free will and ability to CHOOSE to connect to Love, or not.

If you're like me, you've probably made a mistake or two in your life (or dozens... lol). For a long time it was easy to blame people for the outcome. When things didn't go the way I WANTED them too I would just make it someone else's fault.

But, I started to learn differently. Thanks to teachers like Caroline Myss, Wayne Dyer, Tony Robbins, M.Scott Peck, Jan Shepherd, Sophie Chiche and most recently Jesus, I began to learn how to take my power back. I began to see that the way we thrive is by making out INNER WORLD stronger than the outer world.

Tony Robbins will tell you that the story you tell yourself about your life will dictate the outcome of it. Caroline Myss reminds us that CHOICE is the most important power in The Uni-verse. Dr. Dyer teaches that it is the power of your INTENTION that forms the outcome of your life. Mr. Peck will tell you that life is hard and that when you realize and accept that, that life is no longer hard. Jan would tell you to put the loving first and to keep your dreams and visions grounded and in real time. And Sophie would remind us to love ourselves big time and to keep our thoughts in alignment with what we want, rather than what we don't want. And of course, the big JC teaches unconditional Love and says we can experience this Love when we have right thought, take right action and keep our focus off of ourselves and keep it instead on Love.

How could you possibly let yourself be a victim knowing all these things?

If you really get that these lessons are REAL and TRUE and WORK, then, if you're like me, you will feel called to turn your mess into a message.

Add value to other people's lives and value will be added to your own. Being of service and taking the wounds of your life and turning them into lessons and sharing your experience with others will do more good to you and the planet than almost anything else.

To be human is to be messy, to screw up and to not get it right - that just comes with the territory. But it's not right thought or action to assume the role of the victim. It may seem safer and it may even seem true. But what's true is that you can take the wounds, messes and tragedies if your life and use them for good.

You can take your power back from people, groups and anything else that says you are powerless. You are POWERFUL, but you have to choose to be in your power and to step up.

Keep your thoughts on Love. Take and assume respons-ability for your life. Things may have happened in your past that you have no control over. But what you DO have control over is how you respond to those events. Do you want to let those events get the best of you, or do you want to rise to the occasion, pick yourself up by the bootstraps and say, "I got this?"

You may not have been able to control what happened in the past, but you have 100% control over what you CHOOSE to believe and as a result where you go from here.

Surrender to Love...

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

It feels like a perfect moment to write about surrender.

There is so much confusion about this topic. On the surface, surrender seems like giving up, giving in and being lazy. It seems like a passive and weak approach to life. In war, to surrender it means to give up and let the enemy win.

But - from a Spiritual point of view surrender is one of the greatest tools in your tool box.

Let's define surrender before we take another step. To surrender means to "submit or to yield". So with that in mind, it's vital to understand WHAT we are surrendering to. If you surrender to fear, or to anger, or to low self-esteem, then you are letting that force run you. You are giving up and giving into energies that don't serve your Greatest Good. In war, to submit to an enemy that is threatening to kill your family is also not a good idea. These kinds of surrender I'm not talking about.

I'm talking about something much greater, grander and more meaningful than negative energy, and if we all cultivated the kind of surrender, there would be no "enemy" because we would realize we are all brothers and sisters floating through space on the same rock with limited resources.

The kind of surrender I'm talking about is surrender with a capital S. To Surrender is to Surrender to Love. Love is the Energy that created our Uni-verse. This Energy is kind, creative and knows us FAR better than we do. This Energy of Love gave you gifts, talents and a purpose. So when you Surrender (capital S), you do not surrender to human beings (who are fallible), nor do you submit to a negative thought pattern.

When you Surrender you give up the control of your life to an Energy that will guide you perfectly. When you Surrender to the Energy of Love, you let go and let yourself be lived by It. Faith in this process is the soil in which you will flourish. This is no different than a seed being firmly planted in the right soil and watered. You are the seed, Faith is the soil and Love is what grows you. The seed effortlessly grows into its fullest expression, not by force, but with ease.

If you're having a hard time believing that a kind, wise, loving and compassionate Energy created The Uni-verse, I'm going to ask you to do an experiment. Try. Try for 30 days to let go and let Love guide you. Not romantic love, not emotional love and not your love of cookies - I'm talking about Love with a capital L, that Creative Energy that made us all. Surrender (capital S), to Love, give IN to it... Let It guide you.

When you do this, all the illusions of your life that do not resonate with Love will burst. It may seem like your world is turning upside down - totally normal. It's kind of like waking up from The Matrix. You're gunna see things all kinds of differently. Just stick with it.

If you have problems, worries, or desires, just hand them over to Love. Lay them down at the feet of Love and stop trying to solve your problems with your mind. Give Love room to step in and help guide you. When you do this, you will be led to the strangest and most beautiful of places. Some people will leave your life; new ones will come. You may be fired, or feel called to quit your job. You may realize you are not in a Loving relationship. Whatever it may be, whatever you feel Love is guiding you to do, jump in.

Faith in yourself and in Love pays massive dividends. We are energetic beings and Love is the Highest Energy in The Uni-verse. Some people say that Love doesn't pay the bills, but I call B/S. When you do what you Love, you will go through a phase of trials, but at the end of that process, if you stick with it, you WILL be rewarded not only with a greater sense of purpose and accomplishment, but with financial reward. Love protects anyone who pursues Love and welcomes Love in his or her life.

People change, the economy changes and life can be confusing - but Love never changes.

Surrender to Love; give it a try for 30 days and let me know what happens. Heck, maybe even give it a year. If your way hasn't worked so far, perhaps this may be a better way.

In Love,

Mastin

Jealousy!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Ever get jealous? Yeah, me too.

It's only natural. But, did you know that jealousy has its roots in lack consciousness? As I observe myself getting jealous, the only time it happens is when I forget that the love, abundance or success that I wish to have is already there for me. It happens when I step away from my purpose and The Uni-verse's will for my life and forget that I'm already taken care of.

I've come to believe that The Uni-verse will not withhold from you the things that are for your greatest good. So, what's that mean?

It means that when you walk in your purpose, when you are doing what you Love and expressing your gifts, all your Heart's deepest desires WILL be given to you in perfect time. Where jealousy arises for me is when I forget that all is already being done FOR me instead of TO me.

The two places I get caught up in jealousy most are in business and, of course, with women.  I mean, it's only natural. But it can be SUPER unhealthy. Focusing on what others have or who they're with takes your focus off of your purpose, your gifts and your Path. Instead of being in your flow, you see what you believe you are lacking of what The Uni-verse "isn't giving you". But again, I repeat, The Uni-verse will never withhold from you the things that are meant to be yours!

I'm trying (key word: TRYING) to stay in a mindset that the success of others only leads to more of my own and that if there's someone I like and it's not working out, to stay in the space of faith that the perfect person will show up in the perfect time.

This used to be a lot harder for me when I was first starting on The Path. I had a strong habit to let my Negative Mind run the show. But as time goes on and I see how things turn out, I understand that I have been guided and protected with every step.

The things I pined over ended up not being right. The businesses I was jealous over didn't create the kind of company that I thought they would. And, in setting others free I have been freed to dive deep and co-create my life the way that I truly desire.

It all comes back to remembering who you are and Who made you. To remember that all the things that are for your greatest good will show up in perfect time. There is no lack in The Uni-verse and the only lack that exists in our life is within our own minds.

I've come to know that my only job is to show up and do the work that's in front of me, one day at a time and then to surrender the outcome and the miracles to The Uni-verse. The work is your job; the miracles are The Uni-verse's job.

If I could sum it up I will say this: there is great treasure that's waiting to be revealed to you one day at a time. Your job is to show up, do you work and let go. The rest is a mind game that doesn't serve your purpose OR help you express your gifts at the highest level.

When jealousy pops up, remember Love, remember who you are and know you will be and currently are provided for in the best way possible. Then take your power back, send people love and let the gifts of The Uni-verse be revealed.

Love,

Mastin

Relationships are the glue!

Taken from Mastin at the Daily Love.com

Relationships are the glue for the lesson. We attract the people we need in our lives in order to learn the most valuable lessons.

I think it's safe to say that it's a Uni-versal statement that everyone wants to love and be loved.

It's also true that you can only BE LOVED by someone to the same degree that you love yourself AND you can only truly love someone to the degree that you love yourself.

Now, my inner critic immediately says, "That's B/S! I loved my EX with all my heart!" I tell myself that while on the surface that is true, if I look deeper, my last relationship was created from a place of my own low self-esteem. And as a result, the partner I chose was at the same "vibration" or in the same place as me. Why? Because in this Uni-verse, it's a Law that: "that which is liken to itself is drawn".

So, in my own low self-esteem, I loved her all I "could", but wasn't paying attention to my own needs, not loving myself and so eventually resentment built up within me. Then my love turned into anger, sadness and depression.

So, as you can imagine, that relationship ended. That was 2004. I haven't been in a long term relationship since. Why? Well the first 4 years I was so angry "at women", that I wasn't interested in letting another one in. But I started to learn that I played a major part in the outcome of that relationship.

If you're like me you love big and you want to go deep. When you go there, it's a vulnerable place - that place of intimate connection with your partner on a Soul level. When you surrender and show that part of yourself, if you are "betrayed", then it's only natural to close up and protect yourself. But if that is all you do, you will never be able to fully love again.

The solution is to learn the lesson and forgive yourself and the messenger (aka your ex). When I entered my last relationship, I had a TON of blind spots. I couldn't, ' "see red flags". So after that relationship ended and the 4 years of "blaming" women was over, I took my power back.

I realized that all the things I had wished "she had done differently" were actually my lessons to learn about who I have to become OR what my standards should be. The resentments I projected onto her were actually my own shortcomings or growth areas.

It took A LOT of humility to recognize this. And even more forgiveness of her and myself to eventually learn the lessons and let it go.

When you see your past relationship, not through the eyes of resentment, anger and sadness, but through the eyes of the Co-Creator that you are, you begin to see the lessons rather than the resentments.

And when you see the lessons, then you can send that person love, gratitude and forgiveness. And when you reach that place, you will have prepared yourself energetically, mentally and spiritually for your next love, which, if you truly learned the lessons, will be EPIC.

Can you send your EX love today? Can you learn the lessons and them bless them for being the teacher that you chose to learn these lessons through?

If you want big love, this is the humbling, yet freeing process that you gotta go through to graduate and welcome a better kind of love into your life.

Are you ready?

Love,

Mastin

The Abundance Within You!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

As I was going to San Francisco this last week to meet with possible investors, I started to feel small and unworthy. So I asked The Uni-verse what I should do. The response I got was: "You are not going up to San Francisco to beg for abundance, but to represent the abundance that is already within you."

This realization changed everything. Instead of meeting these possible partners from a place of lack, I was given the insight on how to meet them as equals.

It's interesting how most of my life I wasn't representing the abundance within me. I kept outsourcing it - to people, to money, power, prestige and many other outside places. I felt an extreme sense of comfort and happiness going to up to meet with these folks who could dramatically change my life with one decision. There was no fear. There was no anxiety. There was no neediness.

I felt at home in my skin and as an equal. It was wonderful to be able to trust The Uni-verse and know that the best outcome would happen. And applying what I learned last week about rejection, I also knew that no matter the outcome, it would be perfect.

I think this is what our Souls really know and what The Uni-verse really wants for us. To no longer chase and beg from an inner place of lack, but to remember who we really are and Where and Who we came from.

This is what Wayne Dyer means when he says: "Abundance is not something you create, it's something you tune into". The abundance of The Uni-verse, be it money, love or anything else is already there. Our job is to get in alignment with the abundance that The Uni-verse WANTS TO GIVE US.

You can't fill a cup with wine that is full of water. You must empty the cup of water for it to be filled with wine. You can't give abundantly to someone who doesn't have the self-esteem and confidence to stop chasing and open up and receive abundance.

Know this: YOU ARE and WILL BE PROVIDED FOR. When you step out into The Path and begin to realize your unique gifts, you shift you power from belief in man-made reason and timing to that of something much larger, which is timing and reason of the Divine Uni-verse.

I realized this week that our job is not to beg of The Uni-verse from a place of lack, but to represent the abundance of The Uni-verse from a place of already knowing we have it. I'm starting to see that the goal isn't so much worrying if The Uni-verse will provide, but switching and starting to walk in the knowing that when you're on The Path, The Uni-verse WILL provide.

Flip the script from lack to abundance within you and watch the Miracles unfold DAILY.

Love,

Mastin

Why It didn't Work Out!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

There is common trend I am seeing with a lot of my new clients. The trend is this: they are recently on "The Path" of self-discovery, single and still heart broken.

I ask them why they feel heart broken and the most common response I get, "I felt SO good with my ex".

They talk about how great they felt with this person and how they don't feel that way any more. And then I ask them the most telling question, "So, how did you feel before you were in the relationship, were you generally happy or generally sad?"

99% of the time the answer is a curious: "well... generally sad". And when I hear that, I know why the relationship was given to them in the first place, why it's over and where they have to go from here. Now, WHY do I know these things? Is it because I have special powers? No. It's because I have been there and know what it's like.

You see, I, like many other people on this planet, have spent A LOT of time in my past trying to find that one person who will "FILL" the void that I felt within. My default daily setting was "slightly sad, depressed, but also knowing there was something better out there". For a long time I thought that something better was either food, a job, drugs, alcohol or... the most classic escape, in a WOMAN.

Well, through the pain of finding out the hard way that none of those things fill the void within, I began to search elsewhere. I began to see that my default wasn't one of being filled, happy and content, but rather being empty. I found, slowly, how to fill myself up.

I did this through being of service through TDL, through eating an alkaline diet, through Kundalini Yoga and exercise and going deep into my relationship with my Creator. Slowly, that deep desire to fill the void within with someone else dropped away and my default setting went from "slightly sad" to "neutral/slightly happy" - and when I made that change, OMG! People dropped out of my life. Old jobs fell away. Everything was upside down. I was redefining my life and changing my standards.

All that was not in alignment with my purpose and my happiness fell away and I began to see life clearly.

So now, when I see someone whose default setting is "sad" enter into a relationship, what I know is that what you basically have here is an empty person looking to be filled by someone else. And because I also know that we are born in these human bodies, not to suffer, but to LEARN, I know that The Uni-verse is going to give that person a very specific type of relationship.

Most of the time someone who is empty will attract a relationship that "makes them happy" for a while, but eventually that happiness fades and you have two half empty people trying to "get" from each other and the relationship generally implodes.

We get these kinds of relationships for a few reasons. First is to show us a glimpse of happiness that is possible. Another is to show us the consequence of what happens when we enter a relationship from a place of lack. And third is to give us enough pain to actually change.

Pain is what motivates us to change. Not getting what you want, that void, motivates you to become the person it takes to get what you want.

So when I hear about this classic relationship arc, I know what must be done. My goal as a mentor is to help give my clients the tools it takes to become a whole person. I can't make anyone whole, but I can show him or her the doors to wholeness.

I think we can all agree that in this Uni-verse like attracts like. That means if you're empty and seeking to get, you will attract another empty person seeking to get. The net of two empty people is eventually zero or negative. BUT - if you are vibrating from a place of fullness, THEN you will attract another full person and in this case 1 + 1 equals 11.

You could say that most of my work with TDL is for me, myself to become a full person.  Then I do my best to pass on the lessons of how to be a full person through love and inspiration to everyone I can. I believe that if everyone was vibrating from fullness and our collective intention was to GIVE love instead of TAKE IT, the world would be a much different place.

So, I am going to end this blog with a question. Look at your life and the relationships in it. Is your primary intention in your relationships to GET or to TAKE love?

Be honest and let me know. If the answer is TAKE love, then I have one more question for you. Are you willing to become the kind of person who is FULL enough to GIVE love?

I hope so. This will be one of the most important choices that you will ever make in your life. Let me know!

Love,

Mastin
