Civil Rights Icon Presentation to Rev. Jesse Jackson

The all girls empowerment organization “Sisters of Today & Tomorrow” (SOT) will present to Civil Rights Icon Jesse Jackson, Sr., during his 70th birthday tribute at the 12th Annual Rainbow Push & CEF Creating Opportunity Conference, Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:30pm, at the Hilton Garden Inn, in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Out of all the schools and organizations in the City of Atlanta, we are honored to be one of 13 youth groups who will present to this Civil Rights Icon,” stated Carla Morrison, Founder/Executive Director of Sisters of Today & Tomorrow.

Sisters of Today & Tomorrow’s relationship with Rainbow Push extends back 5 years, when the founder, then Senior Publicist / President of Chit Chat Communications, a boutique public relations firm, assisted with the coordination of Reverend Jackson’s 65th birthday celebration, by securing the now Oscar Award Winning Actress/Comedian Mo’Nique to receive the President’s Award. “Ever since that time, I’ve always had a great relationship with Rainbow Push, who are significant supporters of Sisters of Today & Tomorrow,” said Morrison.

The presentation will be preceded by the Rainbow Push Sports Luncheon coordinated by former Dallas Cowboys player / Rainbow Push Sports Director Dextor Clinkscale, where Clayton State Women’s Basketball Team Division Two Champions and Dewey McClain will be honored for their contributions in the world of sports. There will also be a college fair and workshops as part of the Youth Summit component of the Conference, all taking place on Saturday.

Friday evening during Rainbow Push’s “Keep Hope Alive Gala”, Filmmaker Roger Bobb, CEO of Bobbcat Films (former Executive Vice President of Tyler Perry Studios) will be honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year award, alongside Hip Hop Mogul Debra Antney. “Roger stepped out on faith, giving opportunities to many people, so we must acknowledge that,” stated Janice Mathis, Vice President of Rainbow Push. “And Debra, who has gone from social worker to hip hop mogul, is one of few women in the music business who has reached the many levels of success, providing a guide for others to follow, in that business.” Other honorees include: Wanda Smith, Honorable Andrew Young, Rita Samuels, Mr. Clayvon Croom, Leaona Barr Davenport and Jennifer Ffrench Parker. Actress/Singer Demetria McKinney of "House of Payne" will be performing a tribute song, "Hero".

“As we bring in people like Roger Bobb and Debra Antney, our hope is to begin the process of preparing our youth to become the next leaders; And Sisters of Today & Tomorrow is a great example of that preparation,” says Mathis.

Dreams Coming True Means Risk!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

Living your dreams takes courage, it just does. On the one hand you have your heart, your soul and your intuition nudging you in one direction. On the other hand you have your personality and your mind desiring to stay in your comfort zone.

Living life on the edge in pursuit of your dreams happens as you take action from your intuition and you stay with the fear as your mind and personality resist, cry, act fearful and want to quit.

Accept that it's totally natural for your mind and personality to be fearful, sad, angry and unsure about listening to your intuition and heart.

Deep down you know that everything IS and WILL BE okay. But the mind doesn't always agree with this knowing.

Stepping onto The Path and living life at your Highest Potential will challenge you to let go of the limiting beliefs that your mind is telling you about what's possible for you and ask you to make choices and take action from a deeper place of knowing.

Take risk. Take CALCULATED risk on your heart's behalf. Let your intuition guide you into the unknown and scary places. Instead of disaster, you will find new horizons.

Don't ask for your intuition and heart to give you guidance on how to be safe, secure and still live your dreams.

Instead, ask for the courage to truly listen to your heart and intuition and cultivate the required mental attitude to make it happen and stay calm in the middle of the unknown storm.

Your dreams are counting on it.

Love,

Mastin

Make Your Dreams a Reality!

Taken from The Daily Love.com

"Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want."

-Esther Hicks

One of the greatest skills we as dreamers can acquire is the ability to ground and make manifest our dreams. Dreams without action are just delusion.

As TDL is growing and I am taking steps to move it closer to the vision that I have for it, I am seeing the BIG contrast between where I see it going and where it is now. As I am expressing my vision to potential investors, programmers and partners, I have been amazed as how hard it is for many of them to grasp the vision.

So my new motto for myself is "SHOW don't tell."

It's so easy for me to see it. It's obvious to me. But to many on the outside world it may as well not exists. And that is very frustrating to me because I feel that it's obvious. So the lesson I have been learning lately isn't one of trusting my intuition or believing in my dreams, it's been a very earthy and grounded lesson of "it's time to take your vision to the next level and actually create it".

It's very hard as a dreamer to see something so clearly and not have the world see it, too. In this gap between what we see in our minds and what actually is lays the journey we must take. This is where work and persistence come into play. Once we have the visions for what we must create, we must start building it, taking it down from up above and grounding it down below.

As we go through this process, it can be scary because we risk the outcome of our dreams and visions not working or coming true. But we cannot let that fear stop us. If we wish to live our lives as fulfilled people, we must take as much action as we do seeing our visions. We must put ourselves out there and risk rejection, but not take it personally. Instead we see "rejection", "failure" and "naysayers" just as part of us gathering more information about what we want to create. Think of it as reality testing our ideas.

As we reality-test, it's key to let our faith in our ideas and vision stay stronger than the doubt of the outside world. It's so easy to let the opinions of others be stronger than our own, but let's not go there. Let's just keep plowing ahead, grounding and reality-testing our dreams, one day at a time.

Let's just take ALL the responses we get, POSITIVE and NEGATIVE, as feedback rather than a final pronouncement of our ideas worth or validity. And finally, let's not talk about it. Let's step into action, not just vision. Not just talking about it, let's start creating something that other people can see, feel, touch and hear. This is the magic. The moment we start writing down our ideas and taking action we make the invisible, visible. This is our job as dreamers. Not just to have big ideas, but to take small persistent actions towards making them come true.

It's also important as a dreamer who is taking action to be able to change course and adapt. As we reality-test we will see that some of our ideas and assumptions weren't true; this doesn't mean our dreams can't happen, it just means we gotta take a different course.  So be firm in the outcome, but flexible in your approach. You are reality testing - don't give up when you don't get the results you want, keep working the problem until you do.

Today we dreamers are taking real and grounded steps towards our dreams. Let's let our motto be "ideas grounded" today.

Much love,

Mastin

Dreams Can Coem True ... Just Ask!

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

There are a lot of tools in the toolbox of your dreams.

One of the most important tools that we don't know how to use very often is the tool of asking. One of the great Uni-versal truths is, "Ask and ye shall..." yes - we all know this one, "receive".

But what does that mean? Well, if there is something you want and you don't have the courage or self-esteem to ask for it, OR - if you ask for it, but start feeling insecure and unworthy, then what you are receiving in that moment is the awareness of your own low self-esteem.

So, in this first stage of your asking, it may sound like this Uni-versal Truth isn't delivering 'cuz you aren't getting what you want. But if we take it one step closer, we will see that this Truth doesn't link up with what we want - it lines up with what WE ARE.

So... What's that mean?

In the case of low self-esteem, if you want something great big huge "Ask and ye shall receive" can be seen in this Light:

"I am asking for what I want and what I'm receiving is an internal signal that shows me that I have a core belief that I am unworthy of the thing I'm asking for. "

It's vital to have this awareness because it is through BREAKING this B/S ILLUSION that you change from being a person of low self-esteem to a person of more balanced and healthy self-esteem.

So, this Truth rings true, even when it doesn't seem like it does. It seems as simple as, "if I ask for something, it will be mine". But what will be yours, BEFORE you get what you ask for, is the awareness of all the inner blocks that are preventing you from receiving what you want.

And the cool and amazing thing is, when you get about the business of becoming a person of healthy self-esteem, by the time that transformation has happened, you may come to see that you don't even want the thing you were originally asking for. Why? 'Cuz many times we ask for things on the outside that we think will make us whole.

But when we go about becoming a whole person from the inside, the desire for outer things lessens and we become more focused on being of service and adding value to the world, instead of just taking FROM the world.

It's so interesting how this works. We want the things we don't need and in the process of achieving to receive them, we come to find out we don't want or even need these things. This is the beauty of desire and why desire is a good thing. We keep searching for wholeness and are tricked by all the "stuff" on the outside and think that these things are what make us whole.

It is in our pursuit of outer "stuff" that a sense of inner lack still continues until we realize that no matter how much "stuff" we have, we will never have enough stuff to make up for not being in contact with our own essence and core Self.

All this to say, get to asking. Start your journey. Go after the things you want, but focus on becoming the person it takes to receive the things you want. And all the while, while you are on your journey, stay open to new points of views and the fact that you are going to change your mind about what you want many, many times. But get to living, get to learning and say yes to your adventure.

We are all scientists testing out this thing called reality. Tap into the Truth that you have to ask and ask big for what you want, but by the time you get it, you will see that wholeness only comes from within. Travel outward to end up inside yourself. This is the journey we are all on. Don't hold back - get to livin'.

Love,

Mastin

Try Until...

"Dreams must be larger than your current position so you have room to grow." Anon

Taken from Mastin at The Daily Love.com

How long do you try? Until.

That's it. If you really understand those six words above, you don't need much else.

One of the most common patterns I see in my mentoring clients is this belief that if their dreams or goals don't materialize after trying a few times, it's never going to happen. That is a ridiculous thought if you think about it...

Tony Robbins always uses the example of walking. If we just gave up trying to walk after the first few attempts, almost none of us would be walkers.

And our parents don't give up on us after a few times of trying to walk either. They know it's possible, so they keep trying to help us - and for how long? UNTIL.

That's right. We keep trying to walk UNTIL we walk.

The same HABIT is true for creating a life of your dreams and living at your Highest Potential. See living your greatest life the same way you saw walking.

Try. Until.

The major difference between walking and dreams is that we all basically know walking is possible.

But not everyone knows that dreams are possible.

Many people believe that dreams and the good life are reserved for special people or people "not like them". Dreams begin with belief, and if we don't even have that first thing needed to make our dreams come true, then they never will.

But starting with the belief that dreams come true and then trying UNTIL is a powerful combination. Thomas Edison tried 10,000 times to invent the light bulb.

I personally have started two other businesses that failed. I have been rejected by more women than I can count. But none of that stops me. I get up and try - until. There have been all kinds of days where I thought negative thoughts about TDL and what it could become. I almost gave in to them a few times. But something inside me just knew I had to write and publish every day. And now, three years later, it's just finally starting to become one tenth of the vision I have for it.

But it's working. Every day a little more. And slowly over the years and sacrificing so much, TDL is starting to reveal the form that I have imagined for so long.

So this is your task today. Get your mind in a space where you let go of any deadlines or hasty thoughts. Get clear about what you WANT to create and then start. Make attempts. Every day. Make small progress. One step at a time. And promise yourself that no matter what, you are going to try - until.

Not until you think it should be done by now. No, try until it happens.

Pray like it depends on The Uni-verse and try like it depends on you. Don't give up, don't back down, and sooner or later your dreams WILL come around.

Love,

Mastin

Grace Happens

A lot of folks tend to think, when they are pursuing their dreams, that when things aren't going the way they "want" or the way they "planned", that they should give up. Many of my clients and readers want to give up when things get a little tough. And it's interesting to me to see how easy it is for people to BELIEVE the negative voice in their head, far more than their positive and neutral voices.

It's almost like we are so afraid of getting our heart broken by our dream not coming true that any sign of setback, let down or unmet expectations are an excuse to stop trying.

But see, the thing is, walking on The Path will very rarely ever meet your "expectations". The Uni-verse speaks in paradox. What looks big, is usually small; what looks scary is usually joyful; what seems impossible is very much achievable and what seems hard can be easy. It's just being able to understand the paradoxical nature of The Uni-verse as well as having the emotional fitness and humility to not have to buy into the thought that everything has to go "your way".

Instead of judging a situation as "bad", a "setback" or a "quitting point", look at it this way: see GRACE.

You have no idea how protected, guided and looked after you are. When you look back at this moment in a few weeks, months or years, you very well will look back and see a blessing instead of a setback. So train your mind to refrain from judging a situation. Believe in grace. Instead of running away from your dreams, just sit with the uncomfortable feelings, meditate, take care of yourself and let them pass through you.

Do not run away because it is uncomfortable. Stay BECAUSE it is uncomfortable. Let your fears be purified by facing them. Let your judgments fade by not reacting to them and seeing how they play out over time. Humble yourself and know that things don't have to go YOUR WAY for you to be happy. There could be a way that is being guided from The Uni-verse that is much greater than you could ever imagine.

Emotional fitness, humility and a grace-filled mind will take you where you need to go. Let go of the judgments. Let go of the expectations and just show up fully with whatever you are feeling today. But do not turn back. Stay in the fire. You are not being burned - you are being purified.

Love,
