►►► Throwback Thursday! ►►► Times are not Soft!

Greetings!

Life can be a funny thing - sometimes you're
up, next minute your mid level, third minute
you're down, then you're soaring high again.
In the midst of it all, the 'hard times' never last!

Produced by Stephen "Gibbo" Gibson & Errol
"ET" Thompson for their label, the riddim was
picked up by VP Records as a part of the riddim
driven series which dominated the airwaves
and dancehall's in 2004 and beyond.

Featuring artistry from I-Wayne with the now
infamous chune "Living In Love," Richie Spice's
"Ghetto Girl" and Capleton's "That Day Will
Come," all artists on the riddim chose the right
words to compliment the prominent bassline.

There are 15 artists on the riddim (I'm missing
Anthony Cruz and George Nooks - sorry!) to
help your listeners relive the memories of 2004!

riddim here:

Ky-Mani Marley Book Signing at Ottawa Reggae Festival!

Ky-Mani Marley Book Signing at Ottawa Reggae Festival

Ottawa Reggae Festival organizers add book signing to the list of activities offered to patrons at this years’ festival.  Dancehall and Reggae artist, as well as philanthropist and author, Ky-Mani Marley, will autograph his novel ‘Dear Dad’ for fans!

Since the announcement of Ky-Mani’s performance, fans have been asking for a one on one session with the multi-faceted Marley in addition to his performance.  “We immediately got a lot of feedback to Ky-Mani being on the festival this year” said festival President Benjamin Williams.  “We decided to offer a book signing to go with his performance which generates excitement!”

‘Dear Dad’ is a compelling narrative which chronicles the young Ky-Mani’s gritty ascent out of the bullet-riddled life of street conflict and crack selling.  Sharing his own personal story of personal redemption through music, Ky-Mani writes about his experiences, struggles and what he’s survived to make it to world stages he now commands.

Join Ky-Mani Marley on Saturday August 21st, 2010 at Sankofa, 430 Rideau Street in Ottawa for a rare opportunity to meet the star, and have a copy of the book autographed.

For additional information, call the festival hotline at 1-613-315-4461, or e-mail info@ottawareggaefestival.com.  Media inquiries can also be sent to media@ottawareggaefestival.com.

Greetings!

Since introducing Jahbandis to the network,
they have received great support, and have
had their music played around the world!

self ensures that their listeners never lose
their way!

The Prey Who Wants to be Caught by the Cougar!

Greetings!

An online debate took place not too long
ago discussing women.  In particular, this
group of men wanted to share the top reasons
why they will only date 'older' women.  Me
being curious, asked the group for a definition
of 'older' to which they replied '35-40.'  Hm!
Of their long list, here are the top 5 reasons
for their choice:

5.  They have their act together
4.  Minimal stress
3.  They know how to cook, clean and keep a man
2.  There's no pressure to get married
1.  They ('older' women) have the best sex

They also went on to say that men like Usher
and Ashton Kutcher make it easier for them
to be looked upon by older women.  How old
are these younger men you ask?!  28-32.  Wowow!

♥ HOTTTTT New Dancehall! ♥ Tifa - Nah Stop Shine!

Greetings!

Hate is defined as 'to dislike intensely or passionately.'
If everyone were to be obvious, we would know when
hate is rearing its' ugly head, but 'haters' have found
a way to disguise their true emotions; they do so by
pretending to be your friend, but behind your back
it's a different story.

Dancehall Diva Tifa blazed a HOTTTTT new Dancehall
chune called "Nah Stop Shine" which talks about these
haters, and shuts them up permanently!

Pree dih lyrics:

"All of a sudden everybody gotta problem with me
rising to the top / mih seh all of a sudden everybody
who used to love me don't like me..."  Tifa goes on to
say "Whe dem grudge mih fa / yo ah dat mih really
waan know / caw mih nah see dem when me work an
ah hustle fih mih doe..."  Kaboom!

Tifa doesn't disappoint an inch as she articulates
what many think about some haters.  Why hate?
With air tight lyrics, a certified flow and a HOTTT
Dancehall riddim, Tifa gets this chune 'oh so right!'

Produced by Fedda Weight Music on the Mento
riddim, and broadcasting at 320kbps, and speaking
for me today, catch Tifa's new chune "Nah Stop
Shine!"

P.S.  If I didn't know better, I would swear Dancehall
Diva Tifa somehow got into my head and made a
chune based on my thoughts!

Ottawa Reggae Festival First in Canada to use TicketsOnDemand Service!

Ottawa Reggae Festival first in Canada to use TicketsOnDemand service

Ottawa, On July 16, 2010

As planning begins for the 3rd Annual Ottawa Reggae Festival, August 20-22, at Le Breton Flats Park, organizers have selected TicketsOnDemand to help them meet the growth in ticket demand.

“The Ottawa Reggae Festival continues to grow in terms of number of acts and the number of attendees” says Festival President, Benjamin Williams.  “To support the growth in attendees we have chosen to use the TicketsOnDemand service to make it easier for people to buy tickets for this years’ event”.

TicketsOnDemand (TOD), based in Ottawa, is a unique ticketing service that enables event organizers to provide two ways for their customers to purchase tickets.  A secure online service allows customers to purchase and print tickets at home and a network of kiosks located across the Capital Region increases the opportunity for people to buy.

Benjamin adds “Having both options will enable us to reach more people through the network of kiosks throughout the city”.

TOD President Mike Mulhall says “It’s good to see a local event continue to grow and we are happy to be able to contribute to its’ success”.

Now in its’ 3rd year, the Ottawa Reggae Festival is a non-profit, volunteer driven music festival which promotes cultural arts and diversity in Canada’s national capital region. With an aim to maintain 75 % Canadian content, the Festival also showcases internationally renowned artists in a live performance setting.

►►► Classic Friday! ►►► Man from the Bush!

Greetings!

In Southern Africa, there are a group of indigenous
men called 'bushmen' who are known as being great
hunters and gatherers.  These great men are so
connected with the land, they have provided scientists
with information about Anthropology (the study of
humanity), and genetics (the study of heredity).

Just as Bushmen are important to world history, is
just as Reggae's Bushman is important to the Reggae
landscape!

Born Dwight Duncan, Bushman's musical talent was
evident while going to school.  At Yallas High School,
Bushman was a part of the drum core, played the
bass organ, and was a member of the Choir.

In 2000, Bushman got his break where he met Steely
and Cleevie at Arrows studio.  The trio immediately
hit it off producing the chunes "Grow Your Natty"
and "Call Dih Hearse."  The artist also went on to
work with King Jammy's, and Bobby Digital to name
a few producers.

Bushman's impact has been 4 studio albums, and
countless singles on numerous riddims.  He has
travelled the world, has cared for his listeners (via
his lyrics) and continues to be one of the most
sought after artists!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch a selection of Bushman
chunes here:

►►► Throwback Thursday! ►►► Not 'Ole Dog' But Sleepy Dog!

Greetings!

Dog is said to be man's best friend and is a
domesticated form of the Gray Wolf.  Women
sometimes refer to men as 'dogs' for their
behaviour of mating with several women at
the same time.  Men sometimes refer to women
as a b&%*# (a female dog) when the female
behaves in a manner unbecoming of a lady.

In Dancehall, we have several dogs!  We have
'ole dog,' 'Atomic Dog' and today's throwback
which is 'Sleepy Dog!'

Produced by Steely and Clevie for VP Records
Riddim Driven series, this 2005 riddim is straight
vibes.  Famous Face sang the chune 'Mixing
Board' which showcased what he says goes on in
the studio on the mixing board.  Ladies who were
in relationships with studio engineers reached a
new level of paranoia.  Lawd!

Assassin a.k.a. Agent Sasco's chune "As a Man"
which used slang like 'stamina daddy,' and lyrical
play like "inna nine months dih belly haffi bang,
bang, bang" ensured the chune stayed in rotation.
TOK's "More Gal" makes it clear that 'gyal' ah dih
only ting pon dih agenda.  Whoii!  Mr. Vegas's
"Last Week" complains that the girl he met last week
gave away dih ting, and Elephant Man took the
cake with "Girls Anthem" as he empowered women
for having a tight ukubit!  Lawd!

12 of Dancehall's artists make appearances on the
riddim including Buju Banton, Spragga Benz and
Bling Dawg to name a few!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch all 13 chunes of the
Sleepy Dog riddim here:

CD Review - Friendlyness and the Human Rights

CD Review:  Friendlyness and the Human Rights – One Thing

Toronto based Friendlyness and the Human Rights has released their debut CD titled ‘One Thing’ which is anything but one thing!

The instrumentation used as the back drop for the groups’ ever conscious lyrics makes use of driving riddims spear headed by pulsing baselines, and melodic saxophone treats.  Giving fans 14 tracks, FatHR (Friendlyness and the Human Rights) mixes Reggae with Ska, a splice of Dancehall and a little contemporary.

For classic Reggae lovers, “Human Rights” featuring TrĂ©son is the albums lead single which speaks of truths and rights for all.  Another favourite on the album is the Ska driven “I Want Her.”  With the simplistic lyrics ‘I want her / she wants me / it’s natural / jah beauty’ FatHR sings an ode that can be used by all men who need a song representing female beauty.  The song suggests that an exploration of woman’s beauty leads to Love.  “Human Vibrations” embraces contemporary over a Reggae-ish riddim while profiling the sounds of a guitar and xylophone.

A must play is “Ganjaman” which plays off the lyrics of Beenie Man’s ‘Ole Dog Like We!’  Switching up the lyrics, FatHR says “well ole ganjaman like me / mih smoke mih spliff dem in ah two’s and tree’s / an everybody know mih high already / believe you me / yuh know seh Friendlyness ah one ganja baby!”  If given a chance, this chune will become an anthem for all people who endorse the vibes elicited from smoking marijuana.

The group is not new to the world of music as they’ve been performing for years, and collectively have over 30 years experience.  Earning the ears of loyal Canadian fans, ‘One Thing’ will guarantee this up and coming group ‘every thing’ which is a legion of world wide fans!

Pleasure Principles!

Greetings!

You've created a monster!  Week before last's
e-mail shared 5 tips to making a million dollars
which received incredible response.  Wowow!
It also came with a request for more e-mails like
it, so I'm going to try a ting!  For the newbies to
the list ... Lawd ... bear with me!

An article was written the other day which polled
women aged 20 to 60 asking what they like, and
or what they would like to receive pleasure wise.
Here are the top 5 things they had to say:

5.  Let's experiment.  These women like men
who want to experiment - try something different.

4.  Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles!

3.  Candles, preferably scented, always establish
a mood and ambiance that is irresistible.

2.  Talk dirty!  Ladies love to be told naughty
somethings that only the two of you understand.

1.  Marathon man!  Women like it when men
make time for them which is exclusive i.e.
no interruptions.  One respondent said "He's
gotta go all night like a trucker!"
