Biggie Irie Adopts the SAVE Foundation via his “Baby Momma”

Within days of launching his latest reggae single titled “Baby Momma”, Biggie Irie adopted the SAVE Foundation (Service Alliance For Violent Encounters) and will become one of the local music industry’s advocates against domestic violence. The self penned track, produced by Randy Eastmond of Quantum Studios and was written by Biggie Irie.  The song condemns domestic violence against women whilst at the same time reminding listeners about the importance of women in our society.

About this latest single the big Papa of Lover’s Rock and Groovy Soca “I don't like to think domestic violence exists but it does exist. Men who beat women are cowards and have no respect for themselves or the women they prey upon.”

Biggie Irie who is no stranger to the soca or reggae music scene has given the assurance that he will do all that he can to assist the newly formed SAVE Foundation to bring the topic to the fore. “I believe that I can help to spread the message through this song and also by going into schools and colleges and talking to young people to let them know that domestic violence is wrong.”

Addressing the issue of domestic violence towards men, Biggie Irie expressed concern that he has heard about incidences of domestic violence against men but not as much as domestic violence perpetrated against women. He says, “the public needs to recognize that both forms of abuse are wrong. “

This latest release coincides with a period of 16 days of Activism celebrated across the world between the 25th November (International Day Against Violence Against Women and the 10th December, 2010 ( International Human Rights Day in order to symbolically link violence against women to human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a violation of human rights. This international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Centre of Women, Global Leadership in 1991.

♣ HOTTT New Dancehall! ♣ Razor B - We Party!

Greetings!

What's the one thing we can all agree to do
when we go out to a club, fete or event?!  We
Party!

Dancehall artist Razor B slows down the pace
and embraces the synthesized Hip Hop flavour
as he DJ's about the sights and sounds in the
party when he rolls through in the song "We
Party!"

With a catchy punchline, it's easy for listeners
and dancers to sing along as they raise their
hands in the air.  Speaking of which, Team Razor
B tells me that the song was pre-released in
Jamaica and is receiving GREAT feedback from
disc jocks and fans alike!

♠ HOTTT New Lover's Rock! ♠ Biggie Irie - Baby Momma!

Greetings!

Veteran Lover's Rock and Groovy Soca artist
Mr. Biggie Irie has a fresh new release that is
guaranteed to spark discussion, maybe even
debate amongst music presenters and the listening
public!

The title of the chune is called "Baby Momma"
and the content of the lyrics is aimed directly
at Men.

Biggie Irie stands up for Women around the
world by telling all Men they have to do right
by their Baby's Mother.  Regardless of the how's
and why's and who's, if it wasn't for these women,
we could not be here.

Produced and recorded by Randy  Eastman
and written by Biggie Irie on the Dime Riddim,
the chune has generated such a buzz in the Caribbean,
that women's organisations have asked that the
song be implemented when they give presentations
etc.

I'd really like to know what you think, and what
you have to say about the chune!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch Biggie Irie and
the chune "Baby Momma" here:

►►► Classic Friday! ►►► What Happens When Nuff Man Deya?!

Greetings!

As it's 'Black Friday' and shopping is on your
mind (and my mind too!), this entry will be brief!

Black Solidarity Records run by Phillip Morgan
and Oswald Thomas released their own version
of the Mud Up riddim which was also called the
'Woman Deya' riddim which featured the vocals
of Professor Nuts and the hit chune "Woman
Deya!"

The chune poked fun at the happenings at a dance
where there are more men than women.  Professor
Nuts wasn't having it and did something about
it.  What did he do?!  You'll have to listen to the
chune to find out!  Ha!

One of the 'celebrities' of the riddim is the bass
player as much as the artist.  The catchy bass
line moves the riddim which in turn moves the
artists vocals.  A great example is that of Tippa
Irie who plays off the bassline using the words
'ten' / 'Gwen' / 'Ben' / 'Gar-den'!  You have to hear
the chune!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch the 'Woman Deya'
riddim here:

♠ HOTTT New Groovy Soca! ♠ Shurwayne Winchester - Manic + Jammin'!

Greetings!

It may be shameful to admit this, but a year
ago, I didn't have as much appreciation for
Soca as I do now!  I LOVE it, and that's mainly
because of one man:  Mr. Shurwayne Winchester!

Shurwayne and the team at SW Limited continue
to produce hit records, the latest being:  "Manic"
and "Jammin'."

Both chunes are on the same riddim (sorry, I
don't have a riddim name), and both chunes will
make it hard to choose from so you have to play
both!  "Manic" is loosely based on the hit song
"Manic Monday" by the girl group the Bangles.
"Jammin'" hears a man talk about how HOTTT
his girl is and what he wants to do to her in a dance.
Both chunes feel good, accelerates the heart rate,
reduces weight and will have the phone line lit
like a Christmas Tree at the radio station.  It will
also have the dancefloor 'chipping' in a Fete!
*Goldman Smally we see you!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch "Manic" and "Jammin'"
