HOTTT New Reggae! Iba Mahr – Great is H.I.M.!

One of the most prolific voices to come out of Jamaica from the next generation of Culture Reggae artists is the voice of Iba Mahr.

Coming from Linstead, St. Catherine, Iba’s voice is rising to significance as he sings only of true righteousness and upliftment which is having a growing influence on younger generation Rasta’s, both Baldhead and dreads.  It’s hard to believe that this artist with such a commanding voice is in his young 20’s!

The first single being shared is called “Great is H.I.M.” The song has received critical acclaim within Jamaica, and helped to earn the young artist an appearance on the Reggae Sumfest stage.

Drawing on the energy of the teachings of Haile Selassie, and Iba’s own overstanding (which includes his outlook on a positive livity), Iba encourages listeners with these lyrics:

So great is Him, great is the king of all kings / giver of life / for black / for white / for red green and gold / Ethiopia stands bold / while Marcus prophecies unfold / never you wait for the time is now / can’t wait till judgement come / tomorrow never forward / tomorrow never forward / in my Father’s house there are many mansions / and if it wasn’t so / then I wouldn’t say so…

Placing those lyrics on an intensely bass driven riddim, the chune is an ultimate praise chune to Jah.

Junior X Feel Success with Album

Reggae’s Prince of the Battlefield, Junior X Tours
With Release of his Plead My Cause Album

Recording artist, and Reggae Prince of the Battlefield, Junior X tours with the release of his sophomore album, Plead My Cause on the Revolutionary Entertainment record label.

The 15 track disk which was released May, 2011, featuring collaborations with Reggae royalty such as Queen IFrica and Gyptian, and has been touted as one of the best Reggae albums for 2011.  The album, which also features music production from Dennis Livingston of Revolutionary Entertainment, Paul Lowe-Chin of Chiney K Productions and Ezroy Francis of Mixing Lab, keeps the spirit of Roots Reggae at the forefront for listeners.

Since the albums release, Junior X has travelled to California, Boston, Delaware and Philadelphia, giving the artist an opportunity to connect with fans as he shares his messages of hope and upliftment.

The albums lead single, “Not Afraid to Live” was written by X himself.  Known for making songs that plead the cause of the people, X’s lyrics hit home when he says "This life is like a free wave/ just let it come / just let it go / I faced this life the hard way / until I learn to let it flow / the record shows I took the blows / been through life's highs and lows ...."  The melody that accompanies the lyrics replicate that of the heart beat in unison with the chant of the drum, only in place of the drum, the bass guitar is used creating a pulse that connects the lyrics to the music. Radio jock DJ Sparks says “this is a good song from Junior X who typically delivers substantive lyrics for the people.”

Moving with the momentum of the feedback to “Not Afraid to Live,” Junior X will be releasing his follow up single “You Saved Me” which features Alborosie.  The two artists make equally powerful music, and chose this time to collaborate in hopes their coming together musically will inspire fans.  The extra vibes fans feel from the song is an extension of the two recording in Jamaica.

The title for the album, Plead My Cause, is seen as a continuation of the international success Junior X received when his 2002 hit song of the same name was released. “I’ve been through a lot in my career from then until now.  Just as the people go through issues is the same way I go through issues.  On this album, we go through life together,” the artist said during his photo shoot in Boston, Massachusetts.

The video for the song was shot on location in Jamaica and features the artists understanding of the hardships everyday people go through.

The Album ‘Plead My Cause’ is also available on iTunes:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/plead-my-cause/id424610669

Walter Saw Restores Roots Reggae with his new album ‘Stronger!’

With the release of his album ‘Stronger,’ Walter Saw and his labels J’Island Records and Calibud Music breathe new life into the Roots Reggae genre!

Blessing his musical journey, Walter intro’s his CD with the chant “I will life up my eyes onto the hills / from whence commeth my help / my help commeth from Jah / who made the heavens and the earth / though man perform evil things against I / I did not falter for Jah was with me ….”  With the blessed introduction, Walter goes on to perform fifteen tracks with careful lyrics about faith, love and upliftment.

Produced by Saunjay ‘Triple Ace’ Kerr for J’Island Records and Sheldon ‘Calibud’ Stewart for Calibud Music, the two producers and artist demonstrate the strength and beauty of roots music.

Choosing the right riddims such as the Satta Massagana (used for the song “Stronger”), the Pass The Kutchie riddim (used for the song “Selassie I Rule”), and the Boxing riddim (used for the song “How Does it Feel”), Walter weaves a fabric that, by the end of the CD, becomes a coat listeners rely on to keep them warm on days it becomes cold, and keep them looking fashionable when worn causally.

“This CD really was a journey about things I’ve experienced and about things I’ve seen happen to other people.  Life is not easy right now, so I’m giving fans spiritual strength through the music,” said Walter.  Saunjay ‘Triple Ace’ Kerr also added “we’ve all experienced the topics Walter sings about in one way or another, so this CD tells people they are not alone.”

One such song that offers comfort in times of hardship is “Deliverance” in which the singer pleads with Jah for help as he’s been suffering too long, and needs deliverance from those struggles.  Fans treated to an advance listening of the disk immediately connected with the song, identifying that they too have had times when they asked the Father for an ease to the hardships they faced.

Also included on the album is Walter Saw’s hit song “Gang War” which brought the artist to international notoriety.  Produced Sackie in 1996, the song’s addition to the album helps fans appreciate how much Walter’s voice has remained consistent over the years.  Additional re-mastered songs include “Child’s Game.”

Walter Saw’s album ‘Stronger’ is available on iTunes, and all digital music retailers.

Roots Reggae Represented by Switzerland’s Premiere Artist Elijah!

You are going to LOVE this song because it resonates on so many levels!  Let's first begin
with the 'story!'

The story is that Elijah is a Reggae artist from Switzerland who has a passion for the music.
So passionate is he that he entered competitions, promoted his craft and developed himself to the point that creating the music came, and comes as naturally as breathing!

To build upon the vibes in his music, Elijah and his team ventured to Jamaica to record with the legendary Bobby Digital as well as John John, son of the legendary King Jammy's.  The result of working with these two greats is the Reggae chune "Do Good In Life" which is so certified HOTTT, the chune will be on repeat.  Here's what he says!:

"do good in life and jah bless you twice / I have
a loaf make we share the slice / me love the fresh
mango outta tiger yard / him have a lot of love
to give though his life is hard  / mih see him as
a bredrin right from start / on the battlefield of
/ life he carries love inna him heart …."

Once you take in those lyrics over an authentic roots riddim with a bassline that drives the chune, you will be hooked like a child to candy.  Don't listen to us, listen to Elijah!  Click on the link below:
