19 Box Presents Rise and Shine!

We came across the project Rise and Shine and had to share it with the readers of The Famous Face!

Rise and Shine 3.11 is a collective of Reggae artists organized through a network of 3 cities: Kingston, Jamaica, New York, USA, and Tokyo, Japan. The goal of the project is to support those affected by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami that rocked the north-eastern coastal areas of Japan on March 11th, 2011.

This project includes famous talents such as Shinehead and I-Octane. Other artists affiliated with the project include Anthony Red Rose, Ninja Ford, Lenn Hammond, Vybrant, Prophecy, Iakopo, Worm Bass, George Maralious Cockle, Avril "Starfire" Aiken, Simone Gordon, Sango, Rese, DJ 19 and Movers who are Catapila, Dennis "Shango Trex" Llewellyn, and Edison.

It has taken almost two years to bring this project to fruition because of the addition of more and more Artists. That said, 19Box is ready to release the Chill Out Remix by Ambrozia (DJ 19 + Edison), the instrumental Karaoke version alongside the Original Mix. While it’s not the usual 19BOX(JUKEBOX) RECORDINGS sound, there is a great deal of meaning for a Japanese label to release this single when one considers the impact the tsunami and earthquake had on the country.

Canada Wide Music Charts - Week Ending January 7th, 2011

Canada Wide Music Charts
for the week ending January 8th, 2011
compiled by L3 Publicity

2011 has announced itself prominently in terms of musical happenings in Canada.  What was in play in December, 2010 is no longer in play; as quickly as it charted is as quickly as it disappeared.  An example of this is the Carla Marshall song “Change Da Dress.”  We did say Canada is the ‘wild west’ of music!

Lenn Hammond and Busy Signal continue to hold #1 spots, and new entries put pressure on, or removed existing songs.  Buckle up, and enjoy the bumpy ride called the ‘Canada Wide Music Charts!’

Please note:  A song becomes a new entry if voted in by the DJ’s.

The charts are compiled by votes from Radio personalities in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia (the equivalent of saying California to New York).  Each DJ’s vote carries a weight of 60% of a songs ranking on the charts.  After the DJ’s cast their votes, voting is then opened to artists, managers and fans which holds a weight of 40% of the songs ranking on the charts.

Below are the charts for each genre for the week ending January 7th, 2011.  If you have any questions, send us an e-mail!

Canada Wide Music Charts - Week Ending December 17th, 2010

Canada Wide Music Charts
for the week ending December 17th, 2010
compiled by L3 Publicity

The Canadian musical landscape stayed pretty much consistent with the charts this week.  As the Christmas holidays are upon us, DJ’s programmed carols and holiday music causing the charts to maintain most positions from last week.

As Buju Banton’s song “Things Ah Come Up” on the Saudi Arabia Riddim makes its way across Canada, more and more DJ’s are playing the song as a single, causing the star’s chart position to jump a few spots this week.  Congratulations to Lenn Hammond who again holds the #1 spot with “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” on the Reggae charts!

Please note:  A song becomes a new entry if voted in by the DJ’s.
