Snoop Lion’s Reincarnated at SXSW

On Thursday March 14th, 2013, SXSW film fans will preview one of the most talked about documentaries in the urban community; Reincarnated.  The film officially hits select theatres on March 15th, giving SXSW fans an exclusive preview at Paramount Theatre, 4:30 pm!

"Reincarnated" follows Snoop Dogg on a spiritual journey as he immerses himself in Rastafari, explores musical and religious histories deeply rooted in Jamaica, and reemerges from his experience as "Snoop Lion". Recording an album with world-renowned hitmaker Diplo and his Major Lazer production team, Snoop draws on recent personal experiences for lyrical inspiration. An exploration of modern Jamaica and meetings with the Nyabinghi Rasta and the family of urban legend Christopher Dudus among others also influence Snoop's new view of the world. He is leaving behind his days as a gangsta rapper and re-emerging as an avatar for peace, extolling the virtues of the Rasta lifestyle.

Bob Marley Documentary to Stream on Facebook!

The Bob Marley documentary "Marley" will stream on Facebook simultaneously during its theatrical opening, a signal that social media may also play a role in shifting movie release windows.

Such day-and-date releases have become increasingly common in recent years for smaller independent films. But this will be the first such U.S. film to stream concurrently on the social media behemoth while opening in theaters.

The film, directed by Kevin Macdonald, will be available for a $6.99 rental beginning April 20th, which is the day it opens in theaters. A portion of the proceeds from Facebook sales will benefit Save the Children, the charity for needy children.

"Marley" is also being released via video-on-demand on April 20th.

Rebel Liberation Sound Presents: Collie Field!

Our love for Rebel Liberation Sound from Kenya, Africa continues to grow, and this time, the growth is in the 'Collie Field!'

In their latest Mixed CD, Rebel mixes vintage Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Culture, Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear and more showing that the sound is one of the most versatile, and not afraid to rock some roots consciousness.

When we spoke to Rebel Liberation Sound, they made it clear that they're putting out mixed CD's for the people to enjoy, and for them to lighten their load at times when they might be stressed.  You definitely want to check out this mix!

Happy Birthday Robert Nesta Marley!

Greetings!

Today would have marked the 66th Birthday of the great Robert Nesta Marley, and today we celebrate his music, his life and his teachings!

There is not one community in any part of the world who doesn't first associate Bob Marley
with Reggae.  His image is the most duplicated image of any Jamaican and is ranked at #8 as
the most earning artist who is no longer with us.

So, what was it about Bob Marley, or rather his music that so many people gravitated to?  In my opinion, it was and is a combination of two factor: 1.  His lyrics.  People of every nationality, from every walk of life could and can relate to every word he sang.  2.  The music.  There is no doubt that when the Wailers came together and put down some heavy roots music, it moved your soul.  Not your ears, or your feet, but your soul which is the reason why, every time you hear Bob's music, it moves you; even being 30 plus years later.

Whether you're in your teens, or you're an elder, today, we can agree on one thing:  Robert Nesta Marley is the King of Reggae.  He was the only one of his kind, and that status will never change.

Pour some liquor, light a candle or chant a psalms.  However you do it, celebrate his life and legacy today.
