Blaqk Sheep - Crabs Inna Barrel

You've heard the expression many times, especially if you're from the Caribbean: 'crab inna barrel,' but when was the last time you saw crabs in a barrel?

In countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand, we have something called 'Tall Poppy Syndrome.'  Defined, that syndrome is a social phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers. The fact that there is a defined 'syndrome' for this says a lot.

Producer and recording artist Blaqk Sheep has a new song on the market called "Crab Inna Barrel" which addresses this syndrome.

Produced by I-Strong Records, lyrics from the song say: "them watchin what we spendin / and the false pretendin / my life they want put an end in / it seems like bad mind trendin / but almighty God ah watch ova we / even though dem try fih obeah we ...."

The riddim, as in the musical composition is a little dark which matches the mood of the chune. At a BPM of 120 the music acts as a projector which allow the real-ness of the images of crabs in a barrel to come through.

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch Blaqk Sheep's new chune "Crabs Inna Barrel" at the link below.

♠ HOTTT New Dancehall! ♠ Patexx - Sell Me A Pound!

Greetings!

For those who are in the Reggae and Dancehall arena hardcore, you've probably heard the name Patexx and wondered who this person is.  If you haven't heard the name, we'd like to introduce you!

Patexx (Any Day Now) has been around music for quite some time and has been recording singles for various producers across Jamaica.  Last year, Bounty Killer heard about the artist and held a reasoning with him.  That reasoning led to Bounty giving Patexx an endorsement, which opened the door for him to record with and for several top notch producers.

He has two chunes going hard on the road right now.  "Jah Will Never" on the Jah Protect riddim produced by Sekou (Young Veterans) and "Sell Me A Pound" on the Full Size Riddim.  Today, we're going in on "Sell Me A Pound!"

Produced by Neil Road Crusher & Mafia McKoy for Road Crusher Records, Patexx represents for all herbalists around the world when he sings:

'beg yuh / sell me a pound / wedda dih purple /
chocolate or brown / dem ah bring it from country
come a town / dat ah dih high grade sound ...
Mih nuh hype but mih know how fih live dih high
life ...'

The way Patexx handles the riddim, DJ's on the radio and selectors in Dancehall have given this young artist full endorsement, and we have to co-sign on that move!

Click on the song title to hear the chune "Sell Me A Pound."  As always, pass on your feedback so we can forward it to Patexx!

♠ HOTTT New Dancehall! ♠ Dark Cloud Riddim - Loud Disturbance Records!

Greetings!

Loud Disturbance Records has blessed us
with a HOTTT New Riddim called the Dark
Cloud featuring Gabriel a.k.a. Levardes,
and Patexx ft. Kimanda.

The riddim has a nice throwback-ish kind of
feel as Maffy took the riddim back with an old
school vibe.  Each artist produces great such
as Gabriel and the catchy punchline 'whole
heap ah gyal,' as well as Kimanda telling
Patexx what she likes after 'dark!'

Maffy says there are more artists coming on
the riddim which is guaranteed niceness!

Broadcasting at 320kbps and 105 BPM, catch
the Dark Cloud riddim produced by Mafia
McKoy of Loud Disturbance Records here:

Classic Friday! That's Entertainment!

Greetings!

As we continue to explore classic riddims from
the 80's, we can't go any further without highlighting
the Joe Gibbs produced Entertainment Riddim
which was produced for the Powerhouse Record
label.

Created and voiced in 1983, Mr. Gibbs chose a
few artists for the riddim, and the few he chose
made it 'institution' for Reggae DJ's and selectors.

The Crown Prince of Reggae, Mr. Dennis Brown
sang "Love Got A Hold On Me" so sweetly, that
the chune became an instant classic.  Lady Ann's
"Informer" did the same as did Tristan Palmer's
chune "Entertainment" for which the riddim was
named.

Continuing the historical roots and significance of
the Entertainment riddim, Mafia McKoy remade
the riddim for his Loud Disturbance Records
and called it the 50 Pound Riddim.  This riddim
was the last riddim that the late great Sugar Minott
voiced on before he sadly passed away.

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch the original Entertainment
riddim produced by Joe Gibbs for Powerhouse Records
here:

P.S.  In case you missed it, you can catch the just
uploaded interview with Mafia McKoy - Part 1 here:
