After years of being a supportive figure behind the scenes, Road Crusher Music has just announced that it will go full throttle with music production, and artist management.

Based in Kingston, Jamaica and Los Angeles, California, Road Crusher Music is the source of energy behind Digicel Rising Star contestant Kimanda Cunningham, and most recently produced the Full Size riddim featuring Busy Signal, Kimanda Cunningham, Patexx Any Day Now, RDX, Pistal, Jah Malo, Blaqk Sheep and Samboni.

"I'm excited about the label" said Neil from his recording studio in Kingston, "and I'm excited about the artists and the music we're going to produce!"

Sisters of Today & Tomorrow in collaboration with Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture & History, kicked off the 7^th annual “Celebrating Women of Color… Art, Politics & Hip Hop” with an elegant reception at the Auburn Avenue Research Library, last Thursday, which included special guests: State Representative Alisha Thomas-Morgan; Miss Black Georgia, Erica-Christina Little (of Macon), Georgia; Karen Mason CEO of Red Clay Music, Radio personality, Educator and Author Rabiyah “Rah” Karim-Kincey and Author, Dr. Stephane Dunn of Morehouse College.  The lively affair included a presentation from Founder/Executive Director of Sisters of Today & Tomorrow Carla Morrison, along with a welcoming introduction from Francine Henderson, Administrator of Auburn Avenue Research Library and a compelling story from Courtney Britton, 16 yr old, 11^th grader at Campbell High School, who is a budding music journalist and the longest standing member of Sisters of Today & Tomorrow. “When I came to Sisters of Today & Tomorrow, I was a little shy. I was and still am talented, but needed that extra push. Since becoming a member, I’ve become the Managing Editor of my school newspaper, I’ve met some of Atlanta’s top journalist and I recently interviewed at CNN for a student internship all due to Miss Carla and Sisters of Today & Tomorrow.” 

 

Saturday evening, Sisters of Today& Tomorrow, in collaboration with Auburn Avenue Research Library, hosted an intimate program, book signing and conversation "Celebrating Women of Color... The Female Political Agenda", featuring State Representative Alisha Thomas-Morgan, who discussed her book “No Apologies: Powerful Lessons in Love, Life and Politics”. The State Rep talked about everything from her great relationship with her husband David Morgan to “broke activism” and “snatching the torch”, which are both the titles of chapters in her book. 

The program included remarks from Miss. Black Georgia’s Erica-Christina Little, from her platform “G.I.R.L. Promise”, with featured women in history highlights from Idalis Melancon (of Henry County), who highlighted Dorothy Height and Kristen Britton (of Cobb County) who focused on Shirley Chisholm. In addition to the highlight on Shirley Chisholm, the library showed a documentary on the political legend. And two musical performances was provided by Erica-Christina Little who sang “How Great Thy Art” and “I’m Every Woman”.  

This Saturday, March 12, 2011, 4pm-6pm, Sisters of Today & Tomorrow will host, Celebrating Women of Color… “Her Mic Sounds Nice: The Female Presence in Hip Hop Culture”, featuring Karen Mason, Rabiyah "Rah" Karim-Kincey and Dr. Stephane Dunn of Morehouse College, hosted by Courtney Britton, SOT Member (of Cobb County). The Women's History Month event will also showcase "Esoteric Lore" and "One Woman's Dream: The Unfolding Legacy of Evelyn J. Frazier" art exhibit(s), at the Auburn Avenue Research Library, 101 Auburn Avenue, downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The event is free and open to the public. (Donations are accepted for Sisters of Today & Tomorrow.) The program will be catered by Mr. Everything’s Café & Planet Wings & Things. Today we have HOTTT new music that comes with a story we know you will find interesting on the highest level!

 

The story begins with Inspired Music Concepts which is owned and operated by Anil 'Phantom' Montaque.  Anil is from Jamaica, but moved to Switzerland at the age of 21.  While in Switzerland, Anil developed his ear for music - he played his brother's sound system 'Culture Vibes' at every club and every venue.  He became widely known which caught the attention of the keepers of the world renowned Zurich Clash.  Phantom was considered

the underdog at the clash ... but he won!

 

Fast forward in time, and we find Phantom teaming with Dancehall and Reggae artist Cali P who together create music for the global massive.

 

One of their songs, "Like A Lion" is a part of the movie soundtrack of the same name 'Like A Lion' which is a story about legendary skier Tanner Hall.  The movie won Best Documentary (iF3), Best Soundtrack (Snow Film Fest - New York) and Best Biography

(X-Dance Film Fest, Utah).  The accolades are impressive!

 

In addition to the chune "Like A Lion," Phantom and Cali P produced the Dancehall track "Hot Steppa."

Introducing Virginia’s Reggae Icon – EVER-G!

Everett G. Streete, professionally known as EVER-G, hails from Cash Hill, Hanover, Jamaica and resides in Hampton, Virginia. Writing and singing conscious and uplifting songs with messages of peace, love and unity, EVER-G headlines his own shows, and has been the opening act for such greats as: Steel Pulse, Third World, Shabba Ranks, Yellow Man, Sanchez, Ky-Mani Marley and Gregory Isaacs.

With an impressive discography of 5 CD’s (Jah Love – 2010, Mission – 2005, Independence – 2003, World Peace – 1999 and Christmas Mood – 2007), EVER-G has toured across the United States, and has performed dates in Canada.  Festivals such as the Kuumba, Black Beard, Reggae @ Sunset, Caribfest, Umoja, the Afram Festival in Norfolk, VA, Hampton Bay Days, King Lincoln Festival, and Bob Marley Tribute are some of the stages the icon has graced.

In 2009, EVER-G collaborated with Canadian Dancehall artist Chatta (Best Dancehall Female, 2007) on the title track from his 3rd CD MISSION. Taking his accolades a step further, EVER-G’s music has been featured in the production of an independent full featured film titled “Patterns of Passion”, written, produced and directed by Patrick L. Coleman.  His music has also been featured in notable publications such as The Daily Press (TICKET Section) of the Sunday newspaper, the Knoxville Sentinel, Encore Magazine and NineVolt Magazine.

EVER-G has been compared to Beres Hammond and Freddie McGregor which he accepts as compliments, and caused the star to say “Music is at the core of my being from which I am positively inspired to write about and spread the message of peace, love and unity.”

Toronto Rocks for the 5th Annual Reggae Music Achievement Awards!

Delroy Sterling Productions, in association with Pattie World are pleased to present the 5^th staging of the Reggae Music Achievement Awards which will be held June 4^th at the Jamaican Canadian Association, 995 Arrow Rd.

Presented to Canada’s cream of the crop, the 5^th Annual Reggae Music Awards is divided into 20 categories ranging from ‘Best Reggae Album,’ to ‘Best Radio Disc Jock’ to ‘Best International Artist.’  Previous winners in each category include Steele’s album ‘The Man The Music,’ Natty B for the radio show Zion Train and Busy Signal for best international artist.

In addition to the awards presentation, nominees and fans are treated to an all-star stage show which this year features award winning and international Reggae artist Gramps Morgan (www.grampsmorgan.com), George Nooks (www.myspace.com/georgenooks), and Trilla U (www.myspace.com/trillau).  Supporting talent includes Exco Levi, Jill Donaldson, Nicole Green, Jimmy Reid and Tony Anthony.  Additional music will be provided by Massey Sound and Soul 2 Soul, and will be hosted by Ms. Danae Peart of CHRY 105.5 FM, with backing from EOP band.  Also attending this year will be specially invited guest, Big A from Irie FM, Jamaica.
