♠ The HOTTT-ed Update on Kimanda Cunningham! ♠

One thing we can say about Kimanda Cunningham is that no matter what, she will continue to strive and improve all levels of her game!

 

Imagine our surprise when she called with her cute King-Stonian accent saying "Mih waan yuh check yuh e-mail.  Mih juss finish ah photoshoot an mih waan know weh yuh think!"  

 

Firstly, for us to get a phone call about a picture or pictures is enough for us to (quietly) say 'what the heck?!'  When we opened the e-mail and saw the pictures, all we could say is "OMG!"  Kimanda Cunningham has taken her image to a whole new level, and all we can say is HOTTT!

 

With her HOTTT-ness in tact, we had to revisit some of her music, in particular, our favourite song "Let's Go" which features Busy Signal.  Listen to music, and see some of her pics below!

With the world appreciating the seasonings of Caribbean music, there is an emerging genre

of music called 'Island Pop' that's catchy, R&B fused, and the perfect music to 'chill' to!

 

Two young artists who are riding the Island Pop wave is Kimanda Cunningham and Calado with their song "Need You!"

 

Produced by Icon, the riddim is catchy and the lyrics are a love song between a couple who like

each other and are on the verge of taking their relationship to the next level.  Kimanda sings:

 

"you're my guy / my guy / I like your style you're not a shy guy...."

✓ HOTTT New Reggae! ✓ Kimanda Cunningham - I Wanna Know What Love Is!

In 1984, the group Foreigner (Mick Jones, Ian McDonald and Lou Gramm) released the song "I Want to Know What Love Is" which reached #1 on both the British charts and the US charts, and remained there for several weeks.  

 

Today, in 2011, the song is still on the Billboard charts at the top of the 'Recurring Hits' section as fans young and old can't get enough of the song, and then comes Kimanda Cunningham!

 

With the support of the Road Crusher Music label, Kimanda has done a cover of the song "I Want to Know What Love Is." Using her powerful voice, Kim covers the song in such a way, Foreigner would be proud!  The music has been re-built with a driving drum beat

that matches the pace of Kim's voice (all lyrics remain the same) which automatically moves listeners with the song!

 

The team predicts that Kim will have a #1 in the hearts of fans and radio jocks with this cover,

and we have to co-sign on that!

Based in Kingston, Jamaica and Los Angeles, California, Road Crusher Music is the source of energy behind Digicel Rising Star contestant Kimanda Cunningham, and most recently produced the Full Size riddim featuring Busy Signal, Kimanda Cunningham, Patexx Any Day Now, RDX, Pistal, Jah Malo, Blaqk Sheep and Samboni.

Built as a variation to the original Fade Away riddim, Kimanda makes the topic of love her focus whe she sings “mih tell him seh mih love mih love him / nih fraid fih kiss up and hug him / mih hug him / nuh mek nuh girl come take him / nuh mek nug bwoy come violate him / mih rate him …”

Tony Carr from WPFW in the metro DC area says the song is a “perfect blend of classic Reggae music and quality lyrics,” while Blood Preshah from Denver, Colorado says Kimanda is definitely one of his artists to watch.  “I am confident about her success” said the veteran DJ.

The international Reggae community of Radio music presenters agree as Kimanda is enjoying regular radio play in the Netherlands, France, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Antigua, the Cayman Islands, the UK, Australia, the US and Canada where DJ Wiz from CHRY 105.5 FM says “my listeners are impressed with what they’ve heard so far!”

“The song speaks to men and what their women feel about them” said Kimanda from rehearsal at the Road Crusher recording studios.  “I just wanted to speak for the ladies with this song!”
