Singing Melody in Contention for Grammy Nomination for Best Reggae Album!

When Singing Melody began his journey with his latest album, he did so with the intent of making one of the best albums fans inside and outside of Jamaica would appreciate; an album that reflected the best of his vocal abilities combined with music his musical tastes.

The result of Singing Melody’s collective best is the album"They Call Me Mr. Melody". Produced with some of the industries top producers such as Codel ‘Skatta’ Burrell, Tony ‘CD’ Kelly (multiple Grammy award winner for Reggae and Gospel) with another Grammy winner Lynford ‘Fatta’ Marshall taking the lead.  The producers laid the foundation for Mr. Melody to paint his picture of Reggae music; the result of his Reggae picture is a potential Grammy nomination!

Songs such as “Collide,” and “Smile” featuring U-Roy charted in countries such as Canada, USA, Africa, the UK, and Aruba, earning the artist features on multiple websites including MSN Media Guide in which Melody was featured along with Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears.

Upon hearing the news of making the short list of candidates for a Grammy nomination, Singing Melody said “This has come as such as surprise to me! I am thankful that the Grammy committee is considering my album, and I hope to make the final list!” With that statement, Melody, who was not aware he made the list because of his volunteering commitments to the Obama campaign, has begun to rally both fans and Grammy voters to support his album being in final contention.

Released on the artists’ home label of Shem Music and Fat Eyes Productions, and distributed by VP Records, media such as UnitedReggae.com, MSN Music and The Jamaica Observer all agree that Melody didn’t disappoint fans with this disk. The album is critically acclaimed.

Singing Melody’s album, “They Call Me Mr. Melody,’ was released in January 2012 and features 13 tracks which range from Reggae to Ska and a little Gospel. This is the artists’ sixth studio album and marks one of the best releases for the year.

Reggae’s Influence on the 2012 US Presidential Election

Politics has always influenced Reggae music.  As the genre emerged over the years, artists used their voices as a vehicle in support of, or to speak out against issues originating from the political arena.

Singing Melody, arguably one of the most celebrated Reggae artists, lends his voice to the upcoming US Presidential election, and in support of the political campaign of Barack Obama.

Participating in political discussions, canvassing, and being a poll station volunteer in South Florida, Singing Melody is actively in support of the Obama administration.  “If we don’t take a stand and become active in the upcoming election, decisions will be made for us, and I don’t think we’ll like what those decisions are” said Melody from Jamaica ahead of his departure for South Florida where he’ll work from a campaign office and drive elderly voters to the polls.  “What is encouraging is to see how many people from the Caribbean, now living in the US, are involved in this process.  We will make the difference.”

As a resident of Jamaica and South Florida, Singing Melody sees the impact of the political process on his neighbours, and Floridians in general.  “This election doesn’t just affect Americans, it affects all countries around the world.  I haven’t heard Romney mention anything about relations with Jamaica and the Caribbean, yet the Caribbean has been a focus to the Obama administration.”

In a document entitled ‘Latin America and the Caribbean:  U.S. Policy and Key Issues for Congress in 2012,’ the Obama administration lays out its focus for the Latin and Caribbean region by stating:  Current U.S. policy toward the region is focused on four priorities: promoting economic and social opportunity; ensuring citizen security; strengthening effective democratic institutions; and securing a clean energy future. There has been substantial continuity in U.S. policy toward the region under the Obama Administration, which has pursued some of the same basic policy approaches as the Bush Administration. Nevertheless, the Obama Administration has made several significant policy changes, including an overall emphasis on partnership and shared responsibility.”

Americans take to the polls on Tuesday November 6th, 2012 where they have the option to vote for Republican candidate Mitt Romney or re-elect President Barack Obama who is a Democrat.

Upcoming for Singing Melody includes a Mini U.S. Tour including performances with Beenie Man in November, Christmas in Jamaica and New Years Eve in New York.  In early 2013, Melody hits Europe and Japan.  More details on those and other events coming soon!

Singing Melody Receives 2nd Windows MSN Media Guide Feature for 2012!

For the second time this year, Singing Melody is featured on the worlds’ leading media guide website, Windows MSN Media Guide.

Sharing the front page with Madonna, Adele and Jennifer Lopez, fans of the site have quickly taken to the single “Never Get Over You” which comes from the veteran singers’ latest album ‘They Call Me Mr. Melody. The smooth song is performed by a man missing his girl; the woman he truly loves, and the one he will never get over despite her leaving.  Featuring melodic rock and roll riffs over a signature Lover’s Rock groove, Singing Melody’s voice shines brightly.

Calling it the Reggae and R&B blend, the artist’s music is featured on the Reggae Radio channel.  Speaking by phone enroute to Florida, Singing Melody says “music is a unifying force that moves people from all walks of life.  I am blessed to be able to contribute to that unity through the MSN’s Windows Media Guide website.”

Since the release of the album “They Call Me Mr. Melody”, Singing Melody has charted on Billboards Reggae Charts, BBC’s Three Counties Reggae charts and many others in Jamaica, USA and Europe.  His album has also sold well in North America, Japan and Europe.

Released earlier this year on the Shem Music Label/Fat Eyes and distributed by VP Records, Singing Melody carries the Reggae mantle on an international level, making him one of the most embraced artists on an international level.
