Charly Black The Business Man and his Label!

Dancehall DJ Charly Black raises his musical bar as the artist recently launched his own record label, Multi Talented Music, whose first single is a joint release with Palm Tree Flow Records called “Over & Over.”

Performed on an exclusive in house produced riddim, the song hears Charly tell his lady how much he misses her when she’s away, and that she’s a top priority in his life.

“Over & Over” is released in the same vain as “Bubbling Party,” “Claaaaaaty Again” and “Fall in Love Again” which are designed to keep the ladies moving in the club and to keep fans tuned in to their favorite radio host playing Charly’s music!

“Right now it’s about doing things where I can set a positive example.  I want people to know that they can do what they set out to do. For me, my mission is to make good music that will last, and my label is the way in which I will make sure my music gets to fans the right way” said Charly while on location at his video shoot for "Claaaty Again" in Portmore Jamaica.

Since “Over & Over” was pre-released to select DJ’s in strategic markets, the feedback has been favorable.

Froggy Madd Squad, a native from Montego Bay, Jamaica who plays on Vibes 105.3 FM in Boston recently commented saying “Charly is doing well with his music. 2012 looks bright for the artist.”

L3 Magazine Presents The Freshman Class 2012!

As countries around the world collectively gear up for festival season which showcases the best and brightest talents in our industry, the team at L3 Magazine, Canada’s #1 Caribbean-Urban publication, decided to take a look at the best and brightest talents entering the entertainment arena for 2012.

Some of the artists featured have been in the business and are now receiving their shine, others are brand new and a force to be reckoned with.  Not only do we look at and profile artists who perform with a microphone in hand, we also look at producers from the Caribbean to Canada to the US.

Hands down, and by popular vote, the most impactful Freshman is Khalilah Rose who covers the June edition.  Holding true to her Rastafarian faith, Khalilah’s voice is amplified with singles such as “Hail H.I.M.” as well as collaborations with veteran Turbulence and more.  When we spoke to the young artist, she was not afraid to speak on the lack of Unity in the industry as well as the pressures (if any) to be a beacon of hope for younger generation Rastas who sometimes face discrimination.

Tricia ‘ZJ Sparks’ Spence sits down with Ninja Kid who is very candid when he talks about his mature fans, and performing for younger fans who are learning about him for the first time, though he’s been in the business for more than 20 years.

Exco Levi, Canada’s Juno Award winner for Best Reggae Recording opens up about ‘making it,’ as well as his plans to release an album under the Penthouse Records label.  We have labeled Exco as the ‘lyricist’ as his songwriting skills are above and beyond many in his class!

Natasha ‘Independent Tash’ Thomas keeps us up to date with the musical pulse across the Caribbean with Charts including the Top Break Out Artists.

Our centerfold Editor, Jerome Dupont from Neu Era Photography makes sure Class is in session with the beautiful Sierra who rocks a beautiful ‘nerdy’ look!

Rounding out the magazine is Rico Vibes Top 10 Video Countdown which has several new entries, remembering Donna Summers, Bratz Dolls go bald for Cancer, the rise of Jamaican Boxing, top startup businesses for 2012, the technology ticket, and, our favourite, travel guide for Saint Martin Island.

Elvis Comes Back to Life!

Digital Domain Media Group, creator of the "holographic" Tupac Shakur at Coachella, has announced an exclusive deal with the Core Media Group to jointly produce a series of "virtual" Elvis likenesses for a range of entertainment projects.

According to Digital Domain, a visual effects company that also has worked on such films as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy and X-Men: First Class, the virtual Elvis will soon be seen in film, on television and in other venues. Concerts appear to be a clear possibility. Digital Domain says it will announce soon where audiences can expect to see the first virtual Elvis performances.

Core Media, formerly known as CKx, is a company that creates and manages brands. It acquired Apollo Global Management in 2011, which gave it rights over Elvis' likeness.

Elvis Presley Enterprises is a division within Core Media. The manager of Elvis' brand expresses enthusiasm for what's ahead.

"His lifelong fans will be thrilled all over again, and new audiences will discover the electric experience of Elvis the performer," said Jack Soden, president and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises. "The high level of quality entertainment that both Core Media Group and Digital Domain deliver gives us great confidence that these projects will help continue the growth of Elvis' rich legacy all over the world."

According to the company, Elvis sightings are still strong with 6 million Facebook followers, more than 70,000 official app downloads and more than 5 million unique visitors annually to Elvis.com. "He is also now the King of Digital," says a press release.

The virtual Tupac performance at Coachella was witnessed by tens of thousands of people, made international headlines and has sparked speculation about which dead celebrities would be the next to be resurrected digitally. As The Hollywood Reporter first reported, plans are also in the works for a virtual Marilyn Monroe concert this year.
